The weird thing about hearing about child prodigies is that you see them once, then never see them again....

Why is that?????

I saw this young lady interviewed, she's amazing.

And apparently the apple didn't fall far from the tree:

"Perhaps no one will be more proud or excited than her biggest supporter, her mom Johanna Dennis.

Dennis said she realized her daughter was special when she was around two-and-a-half years old. She has felt so ever since.

The pair have a close bond.

Dennis was a single mother while she built her own academic career. After obtaining a number of degrees, she's now a law professor and has been instrumental in her daughter's education."

Kudos!

Great story but I feel sad that the kid missed so much of her childhood.
Don't. Childhood is overrated. Money is all that matters when you're an adult. That's what the system has created. If you can't afford a home, food, transportation, you're done. She has a head start.

Yeahhhhh. Maybe you should tone down the "mega-alpha social Darwinism" thing. It's not healthy.....

How do you know ?

I suspect child prodigies should be with other child prodigies so they play math, listen to great music
or read great works together

To them that is play. You want them to engage in, what is to them, useless childhood activities
and hide their intelligence or be ostracized ?

I feel sad for prodigies that have to socialize with average children, go to church etc

I suspect that they get involved in high level science/math/technology that may benefit society but that the overwhelming majority of people don't understand, will never understand, and have no interest in. Most people are interested in the latest Netflix series or sports game, rather than what's going on in scientific labs around the country.

Here's a list of other prodigies from 2013. https://listverse.com/2013/07/09/resend-10-modern-child-prodigies/

One of my friends had a brother who was a very highly intelligent gifted kid (all of the kids in his family were bright). He ended up working for NASA or one of those type of companies where staff are required to sign non disclosure agreements. I would imagine many of them are in similar circumstances.

Every employer that I have worked for has required an NDA. Non disclosure agreements are no indication of corporate sophistication. Even a lowly retail operation can require their employees to sign one, I have observed.

When I was in high school the smart kids were all in the "enriched" class, the bottom tier in shop and everybody else in regular class.
