Very cool looking movie. Hopefully it'll be better then Independence Day which it closely resembles.

Why does everyone knock Independence Day? I thought it was pretty good. Probably far better than this movie is going to be....

1. Liam Neeson subscribes to the Michael Caine school of acting - take any role that comes your way, no matter how bad of a movie it might be (Jaws 4 anyone?)

2. There are no more "battleships" anymore, the last ones being the Iowa series that were brought out of mothballs by Ronnie Reagan, then retired (permanently) again after the gipper retired.

3. Liam Neeson says to the "guy", "You went from being an enlisted man to being an officer faster than anyone in history" - I thought you either started out as an enlisted man or an officer, but unless you have a university degree, you don't get to be an officer. You go to University, you start out your naval career as an Ensign.

4. The Japanese did a much more cool looking schlocky movie called "Space Battleship Yamato"

If Schlock is what you want, go all the way or go home. (Is there a dumb movie that Aerosmith won't provide the music for?)

its rare but going from the ranks to officer is not impossible.

From the trailers I've seen it reminds me more of Transmorphers. Trust me, don't look up that movie. You can't erase it from you memories once you start watching it.

Had to check out the trailer on YouTube. I know IMDB says 2007 but it looks like its from the 70s or 80s.

1. Because the alien fighter craft that they steal has head rests.

2. Jeff Goldbloom - fucking annoying.

3. Cliche after cliche - the president's wife, the cute kids, Will Smith's stripper girlfriend, the president, Randy Newman, you name it.

Is that the movie with Tom Jones in it?

-I believe that's a retrofit lol, I mean they've had the thing for decades!

2. Jeff Goldbloom - fucking annoying.
-Don't see it.

-True. But then, many fantastic movies are awash in cliches. I'm thinking Avatar. Many panned it for its predictable story and its not-so-hidden messages. Still a great movie.

ID4 wasn't the greatest, that's true. But,

1) It came out at a time when there wasn't much else to watch.
2) Margaret Colin (Jeff Goldblum's GF) in those outfits with those legs.

War of the Worlds, was better than Independence Day. Shouldn't this be in the Movie Section, where Battleship the movie has already been trashed?

From Hasbro the company that brought you Transformers... Enough reason not to see it and leave it to the teenyboppers.
