Oh wow. Looks pretty serious now.
Hope all stay safe.

Are the Feds responding quick enough?

Many people left before the evacuation order was given so hopefully the roads were easier once the majority started leaving. Fingers crossed.

You're right, it's good to know whether the gov't responds quickly. But more importantly is whether they have plans to 1) reduce the frequency of this happening, and 2) plans to shift society from reacting every time these catastrophes happen to instead building our cities and infrastructure to assume it's gonna happen more and more frequently and more and more severely, so it's easier to respond. We are not prepared for the calamities heading our way.

If the Liberal government really believes in climate change and the carbon tax, then they have billions on hand to help the NWT, BC, Quebec and any other province that needs it.
Also, why not use the billions they have stashed away in carbon tax revenue and buy water bombers and for training/wages for fire fighters?
Oh that's right, taxing Canadians will solve the so called worlds climate crisis.

I hope Yellowknife doesn't end up like Lahaina.

Lmao....where is the next city being built, they're all built. You going to tear down every building and rebuild it with stone? Your plan will only take 100 years or so and roughly 12 trillion dollars lol.

Far better to just tax oil profits higher.

Bingo!!!

We/they have only known about it for a few decades.

It’s kind of comical in a sad way. There’s a thread with people ripping Ford for changing zoning laws and allowing development on greenspace………..and yet, every time fires take out a community or a flood does….they ( politicians and alarmist) are screaming about deniers and or a price on emissions…

Go figure.

Could change the wording to “shift society out of high risk areas” as well. There’s no denying animals, with brains the size of peas are doing it.

"taxing Canadians will solve the so called worlds climate crisis."

Give it a break. Using your rational, the TTC would be serve us all better if we all drank cream soda.

Similarly
taxing Haitians will solve the so called worlds climate crisis.

Maybe that’s what we should actually be thinking about? Actually is, what we should be spending energy and resources on. Whether we buy a little time or not, it is coming…whatever it…is/looks like. What have we all been thinking we’re going to stop it??? Seriously?????

Buy 500 or 1,000 years??? That’s all they/we/you are doing, are bending over backwards doing. Trying to buy a wee little bit of time…assuming of coarse it’s going to be all that.

Fact is, animals with brains the sizes of peas. Are migrating now. Whitetail deer, have been changing their winter yards for 20 years…

Ticks, with brains the size of a pin head have been migrating north for 20 years…..Opposums, never saw one in the first 45 years of my life. Now see regularly.

yeah, we know all about nature, pay so much attention to it..

And while moving entire cities may not be feasible. We certainly shouldn’t be developing in high risk areas like we have been for as long as we’ve known about it……..and at the very least, if we can’t “move a city” we should have been building them differently.

We have all these brainiacs, super computers and their models…..But they can’t even tell us if wheat and corn will grow here in days to come….let alone. What/where we continue to expand.

“funny that”

Move from high risk areas?
Anywhere with a forest?
Anywhere near a flood zone?

Point out those places on the map below, please and tell us which cities, farms and cottages should move.

Just in the past few days:

Yellowknife fires
Maui fires
Hurricane Hilary (southern Cali/Baja)

Not one single one of those extremely rare, or even first time, events occurring so close together thousands and thousands of miles apart with very different climates has absolutely anything at all to do with climate change.

What's wrong with you sheeple, alarmists, woke, lefty liberal Trudeau/Greta lovers?

Forget unique incidents. Forget global patterns and trends. Just listen to what the nice man from the oil and gas industry tells you. He has no reason to lie like the other 99.9% of scientists who only get small grants from universities. He gets paid huge amounts by big gas and oil. He gets paid more so he must know more than all those others. Maybe we should start archiving all these events in a separate thread to prove that these things are fake talking points, a conspiracy, to make us pay more in taxes.

Are they really??? Wow!!! Thats just awful!
After public exposure and being called out on social media platforms they adjusted the prices. However without social media and people causing uproar they would've got away with it. Just shows you when there are emergencies and disasters there are corporations looking to make profits as we have witnessed this in the past many times.
