The only thing they recognize is the dollar amount they'll make off of it. This these type of surgeons as well as most cosmetic surgeons make way more money that heart and brain surgeons do.
I grew up with a guy who worked in neurosurgery in a big name California hospital, he`s around 700K U.S. Those other Docs are into serious coin.
Your tax dollars do not belong to you.
They are government revenue and the government is free to spend it on services for people.
The only time we should be speaking out against it is if we pay taxes and dont get services in return.
For example, if you are a trans person wanting gender affirming care, and the healthcare system refuses to cover the service.
But right wingers seem to have no problem when billionaires cut services to people and benefit from those tax dollars themselves.
They only seem to have a problem when money is spent on services for marginalized people.

Cosmetic procedures are those that enhance appearance.
This is a reconstructive procedure used to treat a diagnosed medical condition: gender dysphoria.
Therefore, it is healthcare and it is justified for our tax dollars to be spend on it if it is deemed medically necessary.
Gender Dysphoria is mental not medical.
Psychological conditions are medical conditions and are regarded as such by healthcare professionals and organizations.
