I have no idea what you're talking about.....

(but pretending I did-shouldn't you at least mention if it's alliance or horde?)

My friends brother (he's 24) just had his final fantasy account hacked and the reason?... for the money his character had.
For some people, it's serious business.

I learned that some people buy characters because maybe they don't have the time to build up their characters but they have the money to buy a ready to go character (lawyers, doctors, whoever really)

Who would have thought?

It is big business. I sold a set of armour for an Asheron's Call character for over a hundred bucks.

To level a character to 80 and get uber gear it will take months. I would estimate around 500 hours of playing time.

WoW is a MMORPG or MMOLRPG (massively multiplayer online role playing game).

It is a fantasy game where you join a world (server) and pick a type of character(warrior, druid, mage etc.) and race of people (human, dwarf, elf etc.)

You enter the server and find a huge fantasy world. You fight Mobs (monsters) and go on quests to find special armour, weapons, magic items etc.

You can talk/type with other characters, you can fight other players. There is an auction where you can buy and sell items. There are markets and places to repair items. You can join guilds. You can group with people to gang up on a Mob or quest. The landscapes are breathtaking. There are flying mounts, ships you can take to cross the seas.

This description hardly touches on the world of MMORPGs. WoW (World of Warcraft) is one of the best.

I suspect there are quite a few WoW players on TERB. Like me, for example. I have a number of high level characters. Rogue (main), Warrior, Druid.

Check it out. It is unbelievable. Beware though you might stop hobbying and play all night instead.

There are 'farmers' in these games too.

A farmer is a character developed to only kill Mobs and gather treasure. Sell it for gold on the auction and then sell the virtual gold irl (in real life) for real money. I'm not sure what the going rate is but it might be around $50USD for $1000 in virtual gold.

You connect with the company and pay them then their online character sends you $1000 in gold. You can buy better weapons, armour, potions etc.

There are thousands of 'farmers' playing games. A company will hire someone to play for 8 to 12 hours a day then another employee takes over the character. They are paid a wage to play. They gather gold. The company sells the virtual gold and makes a profit.

Most of the farmers are in China. Low wages make this a viable business.

With the older games, like Asheron's Call I for example, you could write a macro that would run your player while you slept. The character would reach higher levels while you slept, worked etc.

Probably too much information for everyone.

I know one SP who actually plays wow. :) If you recall CL Meena the EI hottie. She and I spoke about WoW when I first went to see her. She had a low level warrior or warlock I can't remember. I also have a warlock so we clicked. :p But yeah I created a character in her server to play with her. But that never happened.

Hey guys,

Yea, actually, it takes about 8-9 days playing time (roughly about 200 hours of playing time or so) to get a character from 1 to 80 and get that character epic gear, not 500... a Death Knight takes MUCH less than that (about 3 days) since it starts at level 55.

Actually, there's a porn star that plays WoW religiously, and you can even see an interview that she does. (Mia Rose!) Gogogo! Google's your friend. =D

Wow!(no pun intended) What did you have?
i had a gladiator priest. i sold it just b4 wotlk came out. it had full t6 for pve as well. and obviously a 310% flying mount was rare back then. it basically had the best possible gear for arena and pve and fully lvl'd professions. the account also had a cap'd lvl mage on it as well with welfare epics.

but for the record. i got pretty lucky. the guy who bought it for me played on the horde side b4...had a lot of money to blow and really wanted to get on the alliance side to arena with some friends on the last arena season b4 the xpac. realistically..for the amount of time i put into it...i probably could have made more working..but its nice to get something back.

now a days...they've tried to make wow too mainstream. so great gear drops like candy. i doubt most account are worth that much. but there is always buyers out there with deep pockets. but its hard to figure out cause of all the scams out there. w/e you do. if you do sell an account. never give them the secret pw, serial number or update the email confirmation info until you get the money. sometimes its also best to say you dont remember ur secret pw if they ask...just give as little info as possible so if they screw you u can take your account back.
