If John Tory were to run for Mayor in the next election, would you vote for him? I suspect he'd have a similar agenda to that of Ford but without the sideshow.

No .

Possibly....

I can handle a fiscal conservative as long as he's socially-liberal, (and sane and not an embarassment who relies on soundbites that lack any substance...)

To be honest though - my vote will be strageic and I won't waste a vote on someone who I don't think can win a majority.

No.

He's too wishy-washy. I hate speakers like him who, when they finish talking, manage to say precisely nothing.

Also, no more white guys. If the americans can elect a black man prez. only 60 years after Jim Crow, then we should be able to find and tolerate someone whose ancestors weren't constantly rained on.

Yeah, exactly like them.

If you want to hear a politician speak and actually say something intelligent, listen to Mayor Bloomberg of NY.
You mean Mr Mom? He's a disgrace.

You mean Mr Mom? He's a disgrace.
Why, because he makes some attempt to improve the lives of the citizens in his city? Lightly restricting the size of soft drink cups, encouraging restaurants to post some nutritional info. is hardly the stuff of 1984. I like people who get things done, which is why I have a healthy contempt for our dysfunctional city council.

I'm not a fan of John Tory. I think he's an overrated gasbag who lacks political judgment.

Out of all the misfits who may potentially throw their hat into the ring, he seems like the best choice to me. Although if Ford runs that might split the vote, but a few others may split that on the other side so it's anyone's guess.

So, I guess we can put you down for Ford again given his jump from a 40% to a 48% approval rating this week :D

Your choices boil down to: Tory or Ford, as long as you'd never think of voting for anyone else. Why would that result be interesting or informative for anyone who cares about who would be the best Mayor?

I've met him and he is a decent man . He would be a vast improvement over the current 'tard.

.... what makes me laugh about these polling numbers is the the common sense reality of....

Who the fak has a home phone? And who the fak answers blocked numbers? I had home phones when I was a kid... but I can't say I know anyone anywhere close to my age who has a home phone.

Aren't people in their 20s and 30s more likely to be "leftards" (cough cough)?
I know damn well that we're less likely to be polled. (didn't Alberta's provincial election teach you anything? :p)

Until pollsters call cellphones ... polling data is absolutely ridiculous (and will always give results that skew to the right).

Did you also see the breakdown of Ford's chances of winning vs Olivia, John, or a 3 way (in these irrelevant and innacurate polls? (the pollsters concluded he'd lose ....)

Poll: Chow would narrowly defeat Ford and Tory
In a separate poll, Forum Research asked people to choose who they would vote for in a handful of potential mayoral races.
In one scenario, current MP Olivia Chow has a narrow lead over Ford and former Ontario PC leader John Tory, Bozinoff told CP24.
“Those three would make for a fascinating race,” he said.
In a Ford vs. Chow or Ford vs. Tory scenario, Ford would lose both contests, the poll found.

seriously - if anyone wants to lean on polling data ~ doesn't this say something ?

http://toronto.ctvnews.ca/rob-ford-s-approval-rating-rises-despite-drug-allegations-1.1343932

Ford’s biggest supporters are males (52 per cent), those who earn less than $20,000 a year (67 per cent), North York residents (57 per cent), drivers (59 per cent), and those whose background is European but not British (55 per cent), the poll found.
