We see endless posts about dating or marrying an SP, MPA or Stripper. Now how about this one, would you consider marrying a person belonging to the opposite political party? How about dating one?

Personally, I would never, ever marry a Republican woman. I would only date one if she were hot and put out on the first date. Then I'd dump her.

I'm sure it happens all the time. Look at Arnie and Maria in California. There was an article on some magazine on marriages between conservatives and liberals and how do they deal with it.

Yep, I agree. Right wing women are nothing but cum dumpsters as far as I am concerned. I would never take one seriously.

Indeed it does happen all the time. However, you can't have the total slash and burn attitude generaly expressed on TERB and expect to be in any other place but divorce court.

Sure it would depend on the person but take a gal like Palin  ...I could not date her at all, even that hair in her eyes turns me off.

I have found the "best" dates are the ones who watch no news or politics, lol.

James Carville, a true-blue Clintonite, is married to Mary Matalin, a Republican pundit who also worked for Bush #1. So, it's been known to happen.

I suppose it can work if the couple are both opinionated, but respectful and tolerant. Not too many of those around unfortunately.

Awe, I met a great young gal in the Falls last month, she was fun, upbeat only around 20, I ask about the job layoffs the factory's like GM were doing in St. Catharine, she goes to me that she knows nothing about it cause she doesn't watch the news at all...thats not "brain dead", thats just how some people are.

Was on another site today--about 50's Chevy cars. A member just return after being gone for a month hunting elk, maybe he watched no news too...they might have the right idea since how depressing the news has been lately.

LOL some of you guys are too much. As Crunge mentioned, there are still some people in the world who are actually open minded and willing to accept that even though they don't agree with someone on some things, you can still be very close to them.

I am not religious and to be honest I don't think too highly of it but I have close friends who are very religious (Hindu, Muslim, Jewish) and respect that their view are important to them and not look at them with utter disdain or think they are morons. That is what being open minded and tolerant is.

Of course I would, if she were rich and attractive. If I got tired of her well her being right wing would obviously be against gun control. She could have an accident with her gun and I would then be rich and single.

I'm a libertarian but I find leftwing woman generally self-centered and intollerant of opposing views. One in particular was a flat-out 9/11 conspiracy theorist and when I challenged her about her views she went ape-shit and accused me of being narrow-minded. Told her to fuck off and were subsequently stalked. Another woman actually started crying when I told her I voted for Harper the last time around. She just couldn't fathom that anyone would have a different point of view. The rightwing woman I dated never had a problem with my socially liberal views. Maybe just the luck of the draw.

It depends on whether you mean domestic or foreign. For most Eastern Europeans membership in the Komosol or it's equivalent was more or less mandatary (it had next to nothing, however, to do with any belief in communist ideology.)

While the reactions have not been quite as extreme...

The funny thing is I find Liberals much less tolerant than Conservatives (in my circle of friends at leas) and the most likely to send hundreds of Youtube clips around.

I'm dating a woman who, while a Republican, is a very liberal one and will likely vote for Obama because she hates Palin so much and absolutely despises Bush.... It's working very well....

Fortunately no one takes your extreme bias seriously :p

My problem with Rep women down South is that they
take themselves too seriously. Ie, they have all the
right answers and if you don't agree with their religion,
politics and economics then you must be a loser.

Not very tolerant of a difference of opinion, IMHO.
Isn't that funny? Yet they accuse DEMOCRATS of believing that they are "better" than Republicans.
Give me a break

If you find a woman with whom you make a solid connection across a variety of areas, and you let her political leanings cause you to dump her, you take politics way too seriously. Look the other way or avoid political discussion altogether. If you must discuss it, don't let it get angry. If the discussions are kept civilized and mature, it can even be quite enjoyable and enlightening to both of you.

Really, a good woman is a delightful creature. Let her ramble on about whatever, let her vote however, and make it work. If there are other aspects of her personality that are too "out there" for your tastes, on either side of the spectrum, then I would offer that her politics are simply a manifestation of her other views on the world, and not vice versa. Thus your lack of "click" factor isn't about politics, but about other personality, cultural, or world view issues.

Congrats to you OTB for finding a Republican with good judgement, like finding a needle in a haystack. :)
We'll see how she likes her tax increase, the cap being lifted from her FICA contributions.... although, being a Californian at heart she's David Duke on the immigration issue.....
