Would you boycott a store that replaces humans?

I prefer to check out my own stuff at Loblaw and Canadian Tire, I prefer to enter my order at McDonalds at the machine. The machines are much more polite, it is the person that purposely fucks up your coffee order and gives you cream and sugar when I ask for milk and Splenda. Just because they are having a shitty day.
It might kill some of the romance but if they replace restaurant servers with digital menus and robots, it'll at least usher in the death of our ridiculous tipping culture.

Demographics will dictate the future just as much as technology. Robots are inevitable as there won't be enough people to do these menial jobs anyway
Are you serious? There's already too many people and not enough jobs, and the menial jobs are the ones that low intelligence low skilled workers can do. Take those jobs away and what are all the dropouts, uneducated and otherwise useless people going to do?

I find I always use self check-outs when available. I know, I know! Horrible of me. Start the boycott of my services. LOL.

I just find them faster, easier, the lines are less, you don't have to deal with annoying people who 20 have thousand coupons, all on their phone and the cashier has to look at each one, the phone is going back and forth, grandpa thinks debit cards steal your money so he only pays in cash and today was coin day so he has to pay for his $50 purchase in quarters.

I deal with people all the time, in both my jobs. When I'm on my own I just want to be left alone. I want to get from A to B, get my shit and get out.

I wish some places would upgrade and get tap though. Would make the process even faster. Don't need to carry a wallet, just my phone or my watch, pay with a tap - easy.

I'm an honest shopper too. I don't scam the machines and I pay for bags if I happen to forget my re-usable ones.

The self checkouts don't count as people are still needed there and are a disaster most of the time, people mess up and wait for an attendant who is helping someone else. They are designed to help people with only a few items to quickly checkout. They replace few if any workers. The space they take up is the equivalent of 2 checkouts, now they work the self checkout. I think walmart did it to increase profits from faster checkouts for small purchases, nothing to do with job elimination, maybe I'm wrong. I go to great Canadian grocery store and 8 out of 10 people seem to have an issue at the self checkouts.

Walmart tried them once and got rid of them, brought them back for some reason. Also, these self driving rigs will eliminate driving jobs. I mean robots that will replace 80-90% of workforces. Won't work in the long run, not how economies work. The workers end up paying more taxes to accommodate others who can't find work. There are still billions of unskilled workers who need employment.

All depends on the context and if it actually makes it more efficient for me as a consumer.

No problem with self checkouts. Big purchases I already do my own research instead of relying on a salesperson.

On the other hand, I saw an ER doctor who was entering symptoms in some kind of app. That doesn't inspire confidence (even if it was efficient).
