Vince Carter suggesting that he might want to return to Toronto? Haw far detached from reality is this guy? If any one athlete would not be welcome to return, surely it is this guy. Questionable charachter, probably lacking in dedication to fitness and strength conditioning. Low pain tolerance. Could have been a great.

Carter would be of no value to this team!
He has value for the Mavs but Raps would have no use for him . We are talking about the Raps aren't we ? Sorry if post sounded smarky but I watched last night's game and didn't see a roster preforming like a roster we should be content at .

He shouldn't come back. Not only did he force his way out (handicapping the team in the process), but admitting that he didn't 'try' when he was here was the burning of the bridge.

Sure he is of value to the Raps ... so long as he joins a division rival. :biggrin1:

I'd love to see him come back here, the best years by far in Raptors history were when VC was here. It's kind of like getting back together with an ex where you had a bad breakup but when you were together you had the best sex of your life.

Isn't he a trend trendsetter in the NBA ? Chris Paul , Dwight , Carmelo etc NBA stars who create soap operas in their home city even while under contract and orchestrate their departure ... Although unlike those other stars , If Toronto was a contender he would have stayed ...

We have to give VC some credit, he's matured a lot since leaving Toronto. He was the leading vote getter in the NBA all-star game 6 or 7 years in a row, that make anyone's ego bigger than the Atlantic, but instead of going the way of Allen Iverson, Tracy McGrady and Gilbert Arenas who were all completely immature and selfish with huge egos who would rather be out of the NBA than come off the bench, VC embraced his reserve role in Dallas and is actually playing quite well. Would Iverson or Arenas ever go to the Raptors and come off the bench? Hell no, they have too much pride for that, and that's why they're out of the NBA. Would T-Mac ever come back to the Raptors and come off the bench? No chance in hell, and he's also out of the NBA. The fact that VC would just shows how mature and classy he's become, I tip my hat off to Vince, I wish he came back.

It's funny how some fans can't forgive him for his actions while being a Raptor but Vince after beeing booed endlessly everytime he returned to the ACC can still love and appreciate our city .

I know, I think it's pretty sad. It says a lot about VC's character and how much he's matured. I'm going to the Mavs game on December 14th, I know most will be booing him, but I won't be. I won't be cheering him on obviously because he's still the opposition and my team is the Raptors, but I'd fully embrace him if he came back to Toronto, I think it would be the perfect way for him to end his career. Just search for Vince Carter dunks on YouTube, it brings back so many good memories, 90% of the best dunks in his career were done in a Raptors uniform. This guy did so much for the Raptors franchise, he put us on the map. When you go overseas you'd see Raptors jerseys with Carter on the back while he was playing here, he's one of the top 3 dunkers in the history of the NBA, and the greatest player in the history of the Raptors by far, I respect him.

Here's what Vince Carter SHOULD have done:

1) Proclaimed his love for Toronto and Canada wholeheartedly.
2) Given up his American citizenship in favor of Canadian.
3) Played for the Canadian Olympic team.
4) Stated openly that winning a championship is important, but that he would never leave the Raptors.

Doing all of this would have made him the BIGGEST STAR in Canadian history, and a big figure on the global stage. Endorsements galore.

Once his playing career was over, this guy could have run for Prime Minister and won...

He's 35 years old and his points/game and minutes/game have been declining since 06/07. He's a 6th man now, making $3m/season and only has a couple of years or more left in him before he's really done for good.

Some value = maybe

Should we have him back = No, not the way he left this city.

The problem is that Vince pouted and the other guys played out their time to the best of their abilities (they also had/have impending free agency to worry about). Don't forget that the Raptors gave Vince alot of say as to the players that were brought in (a bad move on the team's part), so part of the mess was his fault.

Personally, I liked VC and wish he could have come back, but I think most Raptor fans would make the reunion uncomfortable, and therefore, unlikely.

The cynic in me wonders how much of that is he's no longer on top of the world and now has to beg and plead for an NBA paycheck.
That could be part of it. He may think that if he comes back that all will be forgiven and he'll be a star again.
