So I turned into the Canada/South Africa game last night, expecting at the very least to be entertained. What I got was 3.5 hours of boring baseball.

The final 3 innings were I guess "exciting" as it was a see saw battle back and forth. In the end, we won. I suppose that's the main thing.

I know South Africa has 1 player from the Majors, and Canada has - umm - 12? Fine. Not a stellar match up to say the least - but at least it could be entertaining?? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. It was like watching the Little League World Series...nothing against kids who play, but they are kids...it's all about small ball for them. Lots of bunts. Steals. Hit and run. This was the game Canada played, despite the fact we have Jason Bay, Matt Stairs, Stubby Clapp, and Justin Morneau in the lineup.

Will we beat the Americans? NO.
Will we make it into the 2nd round? Probably.
Is watching this event a waste of time? The jury is still out.

It's a shame - I like international competition in sport - hockey, basketball...but I guess baseball is a whole different kettle of fish.

The Canada-U.S. game is pretty boring. No contest. They may have to invoke the mercy rule.

8-0 Canada after 4 1/2. The crowd's booing the U.S. big time.

Boring. Couldn't even stand watching it for a minute.

Or even better, as many know; I'll bet on a lot of things -I couldn't even manage to spend a minute to look at these teams -that's how bad it was for me.

There's too much good sports on tv (good as in,I can bet on these games) to waste my time on this.

What an awesome game tonight between Cuba & Puerto Rico. Just catching some of the Japan/Korea game.

The Venezuela/Dominican game last night was excellent, lot's of emotion on both sides.

This tourny is really coming into itself.

The games lately have been intense considering that they have basically been an elimination game.

The format is all wrong, single games tell you nothing about which team is really better. I even think the world series whould be a Best-of-9 or Best-of-11. One game is just a reflection of the pitchers available that day.

There were way to many countries invited. China, SouthAfrica, Netherlands & Italy had no business being there, and Canada was aborderline choice.

Should be the best 8 teams - they play each other twice, double header every other day - the top 2 teams play a series for the chamionship.

I'm watching the Korea-Japan game now & it's been great. 2-1 Korea in the
9th. If Japan comes back to win, the US is out.

Looks like Korea held on. Too bad, the US deserves to be out and Japan in. Japan got robbed in their game against the US.

Yada yada yada.

I for one really enjoyed watching both of last nights games whatever the deficiencies of the format. Done this way, each game is like game seven of a series. And the support from the Puerto Rican and Korean crowds last night was electric.

Puerto Rico vs Cuba ROCKED last nite. Managers getting tossed! Cuba getting out a series of bases-loaded jams. Pudge getting brushed back and then thrown out at the plate. Delgado limping off the bench to slap a clutch PH single. Cuba striking Beltram out for the game's last out. Whoo-hoo! some game!

Ha Ha! Cuba in the Final, the USA out in the Quarters - gotta love it - but I'm pretty sure you won't see this tournament again any time soon!

Only thing I cant understand is why was Cuba not talked about as one of the favourites when they've dominated international baseball for ages and easily spank these same players and countries before they move on to the Majors.

they were talked about as the favorite to win it all (if you happen to be Latin American you will know it) but of course in the states the mention of the word Cuba is still Taboo in the networks

like i said before....!!! GO CUBA GO!!!

Have you even watched any of the games?

If so, then obviously you are not a fan of MLB because those games are what I would call boring.
