I work in a large organization where 55% of employees are female.

This year more that previous years (even before covid) the women are wearing shorts... like short shorts . Shorter that any momen you would see on a golf course. It must be a trend this year.

I am not complaining.

But HR sent an email to all managers to remind the company dress code policy and us idiot managers are supposed to have a "talk" with the employees reporting to you.

How the f**k do you bring the subject to your female employees?

I like the way you dress? But would be more appropriate in social event?

Your ass looks awesome in these short? That would get me fired on the spot

Now what purpose women dress that way in the office? I am old fart and these women are less than 30 years old.

Again, I am not complaining.

“HR has asked all managers to speak to all employees and remind them of the dress code. Please ensure you adhere to it.

Sorry if this makes you uncomfortable, I don’t like these talks either but they make the rules, I just have to report it back to you.”

Put it back on HR. You get your job done for them and don’t get the flak from it.

Here is my ideal dress code for female employees who are hot:

Cheerleader outfit with pleated skirt.....

That is all.....

Are you offended? Complain to HR.....
Wise managers never go or talk to HR.
You want momen to work there?
Must be fashion trend. More than I recall in the past.

Like I said, large organization, great company to work for, women hold many high level jobs. But I do see a difference in the way they dress this year than previous years.

I dont recall HR sending us an email about dress code like this other than wearing sandals.

Just forward the email from HR to your team, and say "Please see below. Ensure you are adhering to company dress code policies".

Individually talking to each woman about this would be weird. IMO. Forwarding will ensure you are informing your team but staying out of it.
Thanks. Best answer. Will follow just that.

Exactly. Problem solved.

I would just send out a group email to everyone on my team, male and female, reminding them all of the dress code.

Yes. After forwarding the email, he may have to follow up with 1 or 2 women on his team. If so, bring in someone from HR to facilitate the discussion.

You will probably only have to do it with one staff member; the rest will get the message. So, if you have to, pick the worst dress code offender and make an example of her.

I would avoid offering an opinion on whether you like their appearance or not. Once you start judging that way you may be straying into a sexual harassment complaint.

Just keep it simple.

You: This is the company dress code. You are not in compliance with the dress code because of the following reason(s)…This is what you have to do to be in compliance with the dress code. Do you have any questions?

Her: No.

You: Goodbye.

He wouldn't even have to do that. There is no need to. He is a manager not responsible for employee dress code, so why make it awkward for himself ?
I thought he was responsible for enforcing the dress code? That’s why he was feeling uneasy about it, no?

A HR once violate the dress code after she issued a letter.

The building secretary had to set her straight.

Maybe this is the company where the OP is working.
I imagine the dress code the phone sex operator I chatted
with had to adhere to would forbid her to wear shorts
that were too long.

I wish you added a picture of short short shorts. Because I can't picture it.

There must have been a movie in the 9 months - also Netflix or SM - where women saw this and want to imitate art.

But at the same time they could be protesting against the patriarchy, structural sexism, or Capitalism. Maybe this is the side effect of having to many body counts and now it is affecting their brain. There was a study about this, to them it looks normal and when in reality Validation , positive talk creates the illusion world.

Ask them if they saw any good movies in the past 9 months.

We have casual Fridays. Sometimes, one or more of the younger ladies would go braless with a transparent blouse.

Started a thread about this years ago. A few girls where I work wear spray on yoga tights. Or lip readers as I call them. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
