of course the feminists are outraged but I say GREAT. It looks like the judge looked at all the evidence and decided she falsely accused him as did the police eventually.

Because clearly not all the evidence was in, including evidence from the defence. Cops don't usually take that from the people they are arresting. That comes out after. You think this woman was going to show the cops texts messages that would show the opposite of her claim. Give me a break!

This is a good thing. One women crying false rape is one too many. They fuck up the system for both accusers and other female/male victims. Maybe this will start to show these false accuser that there are very real consequences to your actions.

if the evidence reveals that the alleged victim has lied they should face perjury charges, and be liable for any costs to the alleged rapist. how many men have spent thousands of dollars to hire a lawyer to protect them from charges that are false? how many men can afford decent legal representation? look at ghomeshi. he spent over 100k, which luckily he had. his reputation is shot and he is out over 100k. I would suggest that many men are falsely imprisoned or take plea deals to lesser charges because they cant fight the system. how can a defendant fight a system that has unlimited resources to prosecute? its a losing battle for men....

this why I sit on the fence about dating and ever living with a woman ever again. Im even considering becoming an expat or living part time in another country. so sad that to protect myself and enjoy life, I may leave my home.

I believe that any false accuser should be sentenced to what the accused would have gotten had they been judged against. This doesn't go that far, but at least it's something. Anyone who falsely accuses, especially on something as socially damning as sexual assault, deserves severe punishment.

Also, anyone arguing that his case should have been dismissed because it will "discourage [actual] victims from reporting to police" doesn't understand the idea of justice. One, the woman was proven to be a false victim, so I don't see why an actual victim would be discouraged. Two, you can't screw over the guy and deny him justice simply because it sends the message you want. Three, innocence until proven guilty is the core tenet of our justice system and should be unequivocally protected.

Making false accusations normally brings charges of public mischief. But that rarely occurs in the case of rape. There cannot be charges of perjury unless if happens during testimony during a trial.

In Ontario, a domestic violence complaint automatically results in the man being handcuffed and taken to the station. That allows an unscrupulous woman to file bogus charges against her husband in order to teach him a lesson of a night in jail.

if she was charged criminally she'd be facing jail but the court would have to be convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that the complaint was false to convict. To win in a civil court the man had to prevail on the balance of probabilities only. The burden is like 90%+ in criminal court versus 51% in civil court. So it's much easier to take her money than take her freedom. Just saying.
