Authorities say that a man is dead after being shot by police Wednesday evening after being pulled over in a traffic stop.
http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/07/us/falcon-heights-shooting-minnesota/index.html

The incident took place in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, near Minneapolis.
The victim's name is Philando Castile, his mother Valerie told CNN affiliate WCCO.
In the car with him were his daughter and his girlfriend, who live-streamed the immediate aftermath of the shooting on Facebook.
"Stay with me," are the first words heard in her video. "We got pulled over for a busted tail light in the back."

This video is heartbreaking.

There was no need for this. None. You can tell by the officer's voice he knows he fucked up. He knows he lost control and shot an innocent man.

He is toast. If they don't charge him expect Minneapolis to blow up.

This is terrible. Think cops are overly nervous and edgy with so many people carrying guns. In an instant something clicks in the cops mind and they shoot. Would not want to be a cop in the states, or someone being pulled over by the cops.

Bullshit. And even if it were true, when you know that cops can shoot you dead on the street, with impunity, just for being black, you may as well take them out first.

This is because so many cops are shot by black males.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...r-white-offenders-more-likely-to-kill-police/

The Bottom Line

More white offenders than black offenders killed police between 1980 and 2013. Police officers were killed in ambush attacks by just as many black offenders as white offenders in the past three decades. There are no simple conclusions or trends that can be gleaned from the database alone, but it provides context that based on the raw numbers, officers are no more likely to be killed by black offenders than white offenders.

It's a vicious circle. When you know that they can shoot you dead on the street, just for being a cop.

Blacks shooting people (cops, other blacks, etc.) is very common. Just look at Chicago or even here in Dodge City.

Old Irish proverb:
"Better to be judged by 12, then be carried by 6."

According to her, it was a "Chinese police officer that shot him."

Good information and part of the article stresses:

The black population in America ranged from 11.6 percent to 13 percent between 1980 to 2013. Compared to that percentage in the population, the percentage of black offenders who killed police officers appears to be disproportionately high.

There is also this: But blacks tend to be concentrated in the South and in cities; some large urban areas, such as Detroit, have majority African American populations. About 51 percent of police killings were in cities and counties with a population of less than 250,000.

Where there is poverty there is crime, so the high incidences of shooting by blacks correlates with that.

Nice spin attempt but you are obviously just running off white trash talk without any factual checking - I would have expected this kind of unsubstantiated statement from Trump - I wonder if Trump's racial stereotyping is catching on ?

Fair enough, but the disproportionately high number of black offenders who killed police officers remains. Frankly I would not want to be a US cop interacting with a black man NOR would I want to be a black man interacting with a cop.

If they have that mentality or attitude, they should not be cops. This guy wasn't a suspect in any crime, I believe he didn't even have a record.

As a black American, I have been stopped by white police officers, for traffic stops. All of them have been calm and collected, most of the time they came up to the car, without their hand on their gun. Police officers are supposed to be the ultimate professional, this cop didn't seem professional at all.

Absolutely irrelevant. You are measuring the threat from the general population - if you identify 5% then it is irrelevant what % of 5% represents - its 5% that's all. If in the general population of encounters the police face, the lion's share of shootings are from white right wing armed hillbillies (eg Trump supporters) - then the cops should be shooting drunks with ponytails - that is were the danger is.

You can tell from his voice that the cop in the video pointing the gun is scared shitless. The problem is giving a coward a gun and a badge. They should be giving a psychological evaluation on all officers carrying a weopan

This woman is so cool despite the horrific event. She's smart to know how to video this too. (I alluded to this other shooting in the Sterling thread by CM).

That cop fucked up. But it must be a little tricky in the States when you have a 2nd Amendment that allows citizens to carry. Both cops and citizens need to know how to conduct themselves. Seems like this lady knew how.

True.

It also begs the question: Is the 2nd Amendment a powder keg?

You seem to be mixing poor math with emotion.
