JRR Tolkein couldn't get enough of the Italian Renaissance, the Gandolfo's and the Borromeo's ended up in LOTR.

On a serious note, a majority of Italians are fed up with immigration in Italy. Meloni has take tougher stands against migration to Italy.
You will always find people everywhere who will protest things that are the decision of the majority.
Italy crushing it at the Olympics. They are doing quite well in front of their countrymen. It's always good to see the home country do well.
I don't know how Italy's medal chances are going into week two. So far so good. Italy was probably in a good position to improve their medal haul. They are generally in the second tier of countries at the Winter Olympics. The home country typically experiences a nice bump in medals.

Canada, with NHL players (since 2014), has shut out the competition 224 minutes and 19 seconds. Canada puts on a masterclass performance and dominates Czechia 5-0. Jon Cooper still lectures the team after the win, looking like Russian coach Viktor Tikhonov. The message was "Job not done!"

Italy has put together their own Own the Podium program. Skiing has always been their forte, speed skating is new.

At least some countries the female athletes are generous enough to still wear their sexy legging at the trophy ceremony for international viewers around the world. 
The Dutch winner for the 500 m short track speed skating just wore sexy blue tights meanwhile the Italian and Canadian at the podium are sadly wearing baggy pants. LOL

They were particularly dominant in the 3rd period with the lead. Czechia had nothing. I'm a little concerned with the injury to Morrissey. Putting in Sanheim as a replacement is a downgrade. Plus I have Morrissey in my fantasy pool.
They did once conquer the Mediterranean, the Balkans and parts of England and Germany.
Because they want to accommodate people who want to see both games? Same reason the NFL Conference finals aren't played at the same time. Not to mention that the semis are on Friday and they want to give the two best teams more time to rest. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it stupid.
Made it all the way up to Scotland (Hadrian's Wall).
They never completely conquered Holland or Germany though, the Rhine river got in the way, and German tribes back then were total savages
