Hope Mikes wine sells well, cause he hasn't made much money on
tour lately.

How are Ontarios' wineries doing these days?
Any money Mike's winery makes goes to his charity... he doesn't profit personally. There are some excellent Ontario reds... but the whites are still brutal IMHO.

BC Red wine

I love Mission Hill both red and white wine. The red is very dry and great. It is made in the Okanagan Valley.

Re: Wine Info

The joy and disdain for new wine drinkers is that there are so many too choose from. It can be confusing and overwhelming. For the new wine lover you should try different kinds from different countries. You will try some that you will love and of coures you will find some that you hate. Do not let tasting a wine that you do not like stop you from trying different ones. Over time you will enjoy the anticipation of trying new wines ; sort of like a first date.

Oh and don't forget you may get a stinker where the cork did not seal and the wine goes off. Take it back to LCBO and try another one. (The first clue to a bad wine will be a cork that is impossible to remove or once removed is hard and dry).

Don't forget that it will be your nose that will tell you more about the wine than your taste buds. To try a new wine follow these simple steps:
- pour a little wine into a glass
- swirl it around to let the oxygen mix with the wine and release it aromas and taste
- stick your nose into the glass and savour its aromas. Don't be shy stick your nose into the glass and take a long deep breath. There will be scents of different fruits and nuts varing with the type of wine. Try and describe.
- take a sip but do not swallow
- With the wine in your mouth breathe in through your mouth and treat yourself to the explotion on your tongue
- swallow the wine
- Do it again.

Guys, I know what you were thinking but I was talking about wine tasting.

Some of my new likes in wines:

- Pinot Noir from New Zealand
- Malbec from Argentina
- Argentinian wines in general. Very good value for the price.

Since we are asking questions..I like to pose this one
What kind of wine do you gentlemen enjoy with your special lady?
I am now enjoying a bottle of 2001 MASI costasera amarone. Thank you Indy for that recommendation.
Just curious..because one of you Terbites has turned me on to the finer wines. And I would like to try other recommendations. Thank you
That is a great wine.
I have a Penfolds Cab-Shiraz that I like a lot.
If you want to keep track of your wine there is a donattion-ware service at
www.cellartracker.com
I find it handy to keep track of what I have and what is currently drinkable.

You won't believe it, I had a bottle of 2001 MASI costasera amarone as well on Saturday night!
Well you know what I was thinking about on Friday night. I was sending you the vibe...hehe

But, one thing....please, don't describe yourself as being naked during a wine sampling... I had this terrible image! ... all those wrinkles and stuff : )
I am sure all of Calloways wrinkles on his scrawny little butt are just lovely!!!

Then you should be drinking "Fat Bastard," an excellent French red wine. Lol!

Great with roast beef and French cheeses, such as Brie and Camembert.

Actually, the "Fat Bastard" Chardonnay isn't bad either.

Hi,

You should try Masi Ripassa, this is similar to the Amarone.

I may be in you area, on work related business, and will make an appointment for a couple of hours. I will bring a bottle to enjoy along with yourself.

After numerous dates and abundant sampling (of wine) I have found one of my favourites.
Tedeschi Amarone Classico 2001 this is an entry-level wine. Will try others in this line as well.
I have only had it about four times in the past 4 months. It is pricey. $38-$43/ bottle, I think
But I am still on the search for a few more fav’s
But thank you, to some of you who have taught me a few things in this wine adventure.

Best wine EVER!!

There are many things to consider in a great wine, taste is but only one. There is the ease of which the it can be opened. The bouquet of course. The packaging itself is a huge marketing consideration. Let's face it you need something eye catching in today's marketplace.

My preference is something that is warm, full bodied, yet is very refreshing. The bouquet is intoxicating and the packaging is one of the best on the market. It does however have a very unusual name, like some of these "new" wines out there. I find if I stare at it long enough I get mesmerized. Oh yes, I find that this fine wine has the ability to open itself!

I'm sure you've figured it out by now, of course I'm talking about the "Aloha Squirt". :D
