Ok, I know this isn't quite cool...but does anyone have a licence key for XP Professional that they wouldn't mind lending me?? I had it installed on my computer when I bought it, and it seems that the computer shop put it on too many machines and now Microsoft has 'blocked' the key from getting any further updates.

My problem now is that I don't really need the professional version (and would prefer not to have to buy one) I do have a normal XP Home CD but I don't want to have to reformat and lose everything on my computer.

Can anyone lend me a hand here??? Please and thank you??

To continue to receive WinXP updates with a blocked license key do the following every time you run the Windows update.

Before pressing 'Custom' or 'Express' buttons paste this text to the address bar and press enter:
javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all')

It turns off the trigger for the key check. You can now continue with the update as usual.

You guys ROCK!!!! Thanks Glaeken...worked like a charm!!

While I'm at it...anything for Norton Anti-virus key for 2005?? :D

Try downloading a keygen from a P2P program. I use shareaza and there are numerous working verisons of a Norton 2005 keygen

Why don't you do the right thing and go to the MS web site and if you provide proper documentation, they will GIVE you the CD, the key and a legit license?

Cause I don't have the documentation any longer and the company I bought the computer went under. When I bought it, I got the XP Home CD, but they installed XP professional to test the system, and I didn't bother to change it. Now I just don't want to go to XP home since I don't want the hassles of reloading everything on the system.

Mute point now as I've gotten the help I was looking for!!! Thanks again to those that lent a hand!
