Windows Tips:

I have the Task Manager app pinned to my task bar. For creating a shortcut, the path is:

C:\Windows\System32\Taskmgr.exe

I never use the Microsoft Edge browser. When I start my computer, one of the first things I do is open the Task Manager, and manually close the 'News and Interests' background process. If I want Microsoft News, I go to:

I find the 'News and Interests' to be intrusive; it activates sometimes when I'm trying to select an app from the hidden icons on the taskbar, to the left of the clock.

Whenever the 'News and Interests' is opened, several Microsoft Edge processes start, and they appear to eat more than their share of resources. It's also difficult to close them manually in the task manager. I also don't think Microsoft Edge can be Uninstalled in Settings -> Apps.

As far as I can tell, the main purpose of 'News and Interests' is to try to force users to use Microsoft Edge. I haven't found a way to prevent News and Interests from running at startup. MS Edge isn't listed in Settings -> Apps -> Startup.

If you deactivate the news and interests from your taskbar, it should stop that task from running permanently rather than needing to clutter your taskbar with another icon. You should be about to just use CTRL-ALT-ESC to open task manager anyway.

I think you mean CTRL+ALT+DEL.

There are times when that doesn't open the task bar - for example, some of the 'Ad' links on msn(dot)com connect to a web page that says your computer is infected with something or other, the page can't be minimized, CTRL+ALT+DEL is suspended, as is access to the Start button. I have the Task Manager pinned to my task bar, and I get out of this by just closing all browser windows.
