Microsoft COO Kevin Turner spilled the beans at a recent Windows Phone 7 presentation.
During a recent presentation of the Windows Phone 7 OS, Microsoft COO Kevin Turner actually revealed a specific timeframe for the device launch. This is the first time anyone from Microsoft has announced anything other than a Fall or Q4 timeframe.
According to Turner, Europe will "likely" get Windows Phone 7 in October followed by a "likely" November release in North America. Naturally the use of "likely" throws anything concrete out the door until Microsoft sets an "official" date.
"This has been top," he told the audience, referring to Windows Phone 7. "But you know what? In the October timeframe and in the November timeframe--October likely across Europe, November likely across the US--the game...we're back in this game."
Currently ASUS, Dell, HTC, LG and Samsung are working on Windows Phone 7 devices for a Q4 2010 launch. Last week AT&T said that it would be the "premier" partner here in the US. The company has reportedly already signed up to purchase 8 million Windows Phone 7 devices.
pretty interesting news from AT&T being a premier partner and ordering 8 million.
