Your pics look really good Chantel, but I think with your deposit option you are probably going to get your regular clientele and not too many new ones when you travel.

Most of us here want to make an appointment in the very near future, and there are already many wonderful SP's in the Toronto area to chose from, who don't require deposits. Plus, there is the chance of the bait & switch or no shows - it happens quite often, just read terb daily. Also, what additional services does the customer receive? Discounts for paying a deposit, a refund if you are having an off day? This business is not built around deposits.
So I have read.
Thanks for your input.

I have changed my website to reflect the new changes.

I know that there are lots of SP in Toronto.

Who knows, if you all are good to me *wink*, I might just stay.

Just a thought......Hows the SARS problem going on over there?

Re: Futures?

How about selling "futures" -- like pork belly futures or advance ticket sales used to be on the airlines?

For example, if I book with you for December 5, it could be 65 oer cent to your price. I should have the right to sell my booking. Closer to the time, someone may pay more.

In October, it could be up to 75 per cent.

A last-minute booking should be 150 per cent.

Just a thought. I once traded in barley futures . . .
Someones having a good day :D

Bonjour Chantel,

It is obvious you are making a sincere effort, which perhaps was not evident when you initially posted your web-site a few days ago...........bravo to you.......

Facing customer's and listenting to their feedback, even if it is unpleasant, and as long as it is constructive, ALWAYS results in a better 'encounter'....

Once you overcome that hurdle (value for money), you wont have to argue about money or the amount of deposit.........it becomes secondary to the value of the servce we are getting........

If you build it.......they WILL come............fits somehow I think ?

Jeez..........I am starting to sound like EBS !

Stuck in Lodi again
I just got an appointment with a specialist and on his appointment card it states. (and was underlined)

"You are required to give 1 week notice of your inability to meet this appointment so that the time may be released for someone else. You will be charged for missed appointments."

There's a SARS problem here?

Hats off to you Chantel for actively seeking our feedback and acting on it. You're a class act! (And a cutie pie too!)

Like others I'm uncomfortable with the concept of a deposit. It's just a little too one-sided. You need to be protected which is fine. But in return, what are we getting? As much as there's the no-show problem for you to deal with, there's bait & switch for us. What's to say that an SP won't take the deposit and run? Not that you would do that. But there are unscrupulous clients and there are also unscrupulous SPs. That each side needs to discriminate each other is ultimately a business risk.

In any case, I recently posted in another thread that it's attitude that ultimately counts the most. You seem to have a great attitude about being in the biz, so I have no doubt that you'll do quite well next time you're in our fair city. Just advertise your dates here on TERB and you'll be booked up in no time!

And yes, I find the music on your site to be suitable and fitting. Thanks also for giving us the chance to turn the music on or off - there's nothing more jarring than surfing into a site and all of a sudden have your speakers start blaring.

Chantel originally asked this and I don't see it being addressed.

The SAR's situation is very overblown and not really any real risk vs far higher risks you take every day. I'd be more concerned being killed in an auto accident in any city...or getting an STD from a bbbj than SAR's. These are far higher risks.

Sar's is quite narrowly isolated mostly traced to hospitals and Dr's that treated patients before it was known what it was.

Also be sure the meat you eat is from friendy cows!... Not mad ones. But again virtully no public risk here like SARs.

I agree with Hamermill. No offence, Chantel, but there's a lot of us out here who don't have any patience for unnecessary red tape. There really is a plethora of great talent available in the GTA to suit everybody's taste (and budget!) Most of us will steer towards the hassle-free types - I really can't see anyone being happy to put down a deposit, especially if that's going to require giving out a credit card number. Aside from the fact it just reeks of being a potential scam, even if it's totally legit it's just more trouble than it's worth. I know I sure as heck wouldn't agree to it and I doubt you'd find many who would.

Guys..just curious....Chantel just got a tonne of free advertising and potential clients....and I may be wrong, but I don't believe she has any paid advertising on here? I apologize if I'm wrong but could this thread over a deposit have been started just to rustle up business? Yes, I sound like a negative neddy but anyone else have a thought along the same lines?

Scarey, I suspect that there aren't many "potential clients" on this board anyway, what with this deposit thing and having to fill out some damn form. Frankly, I'm not sure that Chantel is even targeting the right market. Her website says that she tours all the major Canadian cities and gives a list of those currently on her schedule. Why would anyone order takeout when they live in Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver, all of which have vast amounts of great ladies in the vicinity offering their services at reasonable rates and no red tape? Maybe Chantel should be touring those less fortunate cities that are starved for commercially available female companionship. (Moose Jaw perhaps?)

Besides, I'm not sure she's even got her sights set on the right bunch of guys by posting her queries on this particular board. From her website:

"My services cater to the select upscale, generous, kind, and well-mannered gentleman who appreciates all that first class has to offer."

"First class"?!! Methinks we slobs are more likely to opt for economy class. Chantel should probably target the Bay Street boys...

I expect to pay a deposit when I am dealing with an SP who is touring. I can understand that she is trying to line up her clients and she is going to a great expense to be in a certain city for a couple of days. She needs to have some sort of idea who, when, and what to expect. This is a normal practice amongst SPs in the States.

I would not expect to pay a deposit while visiting a local SP. I understand that there may be extenuating circumstances, but usually the answer for a local would be "no".

I have been in the business for awhile. Im originally from Vancouver, where lots know me from and which is why most people in Toronto haven't heard about me.

The clients there (vancouver bound) were a delightful bunch and I had no problem booking appointments. So I don't see the problem to talk to the gentlemen who come on message boards (and I realize most are locals) to get an idea of how things are going on over here.

As for the comment about the contents of my site, I sure wouldn't put on my site that "my services cater to lowclass, ungenerous, child-like pricks" now would I? (and there are some out there)

I expect that if you do fall under that catagory then I am sure there is a lady who is standing on your corner right now as we speak that might fit your criteria.

I conduct myself in a manner which I expect from my clientele....
now whats so wrong with that?

There's always a choice: you can fly coach or you can fly first-class....either way.....your gonna get to your destination. It's your choice.

I read the first two pages of this thread, but then got tired and stopped. Nevertheless, my two cents:

No I will never pay a deposit, because there is way too much talent in this city to keep me occupied and my mind off any touring SPs... no offence intended, Chantel.
