Will you buy a 3D printed gun?

I get the impression that a lot here aren't familiar with 3D printers and how open source it is. So a quick rundown with regards to this, and how ridiculous the notion is on containing it:

Download software to deal with those files, repetier or pronterface are just two and are free and easily available.
If you need an electronics package here's one for ~$23 that will run nearly any printer

Even the blueprints don't matter much because they are already public. Anyone with a cad package could easily replicate or modify them. No chance they can put that genie back in the bottle.

What's happened is that the machining process has finally caught up the software. 3D printing has been used in the mechanical engineering industry since the start of the decade. Medical robotics is dependent on it. The software has been there for a while but conventional milling machines couldn't keep up, constant debugging was involved. Now it's an all in one process.

Amazing! Finally, an off-the-grid and very effective way to protect one's self. Nobody wants big brother over their shoulder.
Maybe a great side hustle would be to buy the printer and software and sell the guns on the open market - housewives that want home protection, networks of incels, folks with makeshift backyard shooting ranges.
The vast improvements we've seen in computing technology over the last few decades has not been matched by improvements in industrial technology, which is what would be necessary in order for 3D gun printing to become accessible to everyone. In theory, any criminal organization could have started mass producing guns long ago, if they had the equipment.
The software may improve over time, but that doesn't necessarily bring us any closer to a new era in gun manufacturing. And that is a good thing... it's hard to see the upside of living in a society where anyone can make their own assault rifle.
eep:Better off in buying an 80% Receiver and finishing it off in your own C-n-C machine. They do have companies selling CnC machines for just the purpose. Rather have metal than plastic. And you can legally make your own gun if you have an RPAL, and call the RCMP to get a registration number.

I have shot all sorts of side arms, assault rifles, long guns and shot guns. One gun I would never want to shoot is a 3D printed gun. The plastic used in 3D printing is not made to withstand the pressures of the explosive forces put out by a bullet. You risk losing a finger, a hand or a life if you shoot a 3D printed gun.
I think the topic here is strictly printed guns so I don't know why cnc was brought into the discussion. Regardless of the plastic used, with the explosive forces and the heat involved it would be trash after a single shot. Also I don't think (or at least I hope) no one is actually going to make one.

TJ......seventeen year old who registered to a SugarDaddy site(and obviously lied about her age) and I'm betting lied upon meeting him does not for a pedo make.

Remember that a 3D printed gun is not made for multiple use. So the only reason to make one would be for interest's sake or for less savoury reasons. If you really want to make your own gun, you always could - but would need some minimal skills as well as tools. The classic zip gun (another single use weapon) has always been relatively easy to make if you were that interested. Depending upon the load you were planning on firing, you wouldn't even need a proper used barrel to scavenge. A thick walled pipe would do and a lot of duct tape. It's not "rocket science", doesn't even qualify as gunsmithing.
