you got ground ball pitchers who pitch on natural grass...slows the ball down might get 3-4 wins a year from that, but then again if the same pitcher pitches on astroturf .or whatever they call it now and he might lose a game or 2 a season
Same as a highball pitcher domes versus open air livelier balls bigger stronger players broken bats now getting thru the infield simply because the batter just muscled it thru.
....too many variables to suggest yes there will be or No there wont , tough call

King Felix in Seattle could get to 300 if he ever gets some offense behind him. As far as Seaver's comments some of them make sense, but today players are bigger stronger and faster than his era not to mention almost all ballparks are considered hitters parks. In addition the pitchers mound used to be higher than it is today which was a huge advantage to the pitcher I can't remember what year they lowered the mound but I think it was because of the incredible year Gibson had with the Cardinals the year he had an ERA of 1.09 or something in that neighborhood. I have collected baseball cards for over 40 years and sometimes I pull out a set from the late sixties or early seventies and look at the stats of some of these guys, incredible.

You might want to research you comment about the hitters ball parks. From those who do this kind of calculation.

http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/parkfactor

The latter article/chart claims less than half of the parks should considered hitter friendly.

400, 500 wins? Will never happen again
Young stud 20 year old who is a knuckleball master may have a chance. Heck, he could go every third day LOL!

Let's see, 20 wins per year over 20 years...You are right, will never happen.

Unless somehow in the future a superstar, similar to how Gretzky was in comparison to his peers, comes along and has a rubber arm and can pitch consistently every 2nd, 3rd day...Still can't see it happening.

It's ironic we are discussing this at a time in baseball history when 'games won by a pitcher' is increasingly thought to be a useless statistic, and not at all indicitive of a pitcher's skill.
