Will torts be fired?

Doesn't look like Philly will make the playoffs. Can you bring someone back who's been so disruptive even though he's done well.

I think he'll be fired and maybe even he's trying to as he looks tired of coaching.

Didn’t Torts scratch the captain for some dumb reason? They were doing very well and I’m not sure why they fell off the track but I think Torts at times can be a huge distraction because he is combative with the media. I like his honesty tho. To answer your question, I doubt he will be coach of the flyers next season

Old style coaches wear out their welcome when the game passes them by. As a kid i remember some of the older coaches like Punch Imlach trying to use the "old ways" on a modern and changing game. For Torts, the game has passed him by just like it did for Babcock, Quenville, Hitchcock and others.

Torts will get the Rasputin treatment if the Philly fold continues -bound, gagged, wrapped in chains stuffed in a box thrown into the river...and suddenly in September we'll find he's escaped and coaching in the NHL...

Keep in mind the Flyers were not thought to be a playoff team at the beginning of the season. Many people credit Torts for their competitiveness this year. Let's wait for management to support him, that'll be the usual kiss of death.

Orval Tessier was considered the toughest coach in the NHL. He was to the Blackhawks what the legendary John Brophy was to the Leafs. He was so tough he made Mike Keenan look like a Nancy Boy.

Flyers had a better year than expected, had a playoff spot for 70 games...but a disastrous 8 game losing streak at the worse time did them in.

They brought a lot of new young players in and unless there is a better guy out there I'd say keep him.

I love you guys ripping on Torts for not making the playoffs. Seems none of you remember the beginning of the season forecast for this team.
Everyone was picking Philly to be one of the worst teams in the league. Easily the worst in the division, below Columbus. The reason they were in contention at the end of the season is Torts.
