Bringing him in shortly for a full public workout. Is it a publicity stunt, or are they serious enough to actually sign him?

I cant imagine that at 34 years old and not having played in 6 years he isnt much of a commodity. The Raiders are reportedly about to get a lot of bad press from the Gruden debacle so this is most likely just a preemptive distraction. If Kap could still play he would have been playing already.

If there's a way for Mark Davis to get it wrong, he will.

I just dont see what interest anyone would have of this guy other than a PR stunt. He is like Tim Tebow, one miracle year and then cant hold a starting job. At 34 and out of football for 6 years why would anyone think he would be better ?

Very athletic guy and a great arm in his prime. But that was a while ago.

He couldn't read and adjust when the defenses adjusted to him. Don't see how that will change any.

Even if he kept in shape, he has been away too long, skills erode. Also IIRC towards the end he wasn't exactly hot stuff. Unlike say boxing which you can solo train and get sparring partners to keep in shape, with the American handball you need at least 21 other players to duplicate the experience.

I could be wrong though but it smells of Manon Rhéaume, just a stunt, and nobody expects him to actually workout. A risky stunt though because if he doesn't get a call up, will people say, at least he got a shot, or will he take out his African American Express Race Card and cry dem racisms.

Speaking of Manon Rheaume.

I was watching a Las Vegas Golden Knights game a few months ago and she was part of the Knights broadcast team during the intermission.

Did a pretty good job as well.

Agree with this entire thread and the fact we all voted NO on the poll just tells you how CK will do - plus at 34 and not played in the league for the last 6 years - this is one train that has passed him by - its too bad - because he did have potential.

Guy had amazing potential. That playoff game against Green Bay {i think} where he ran and threw for a ton of yards. It was like watching Gretzky or Orr in their prime just on a different level than everybody else. He had that ability to beat you by himself.

It was surprising how he couldn't adjust. He seemed to struggle reading basic defensive schemes that were surely studied during the week. I still shake my head when I think about him.

Having said all that, he should have been in the league as he would have been a solid #2. I would have loved to have him as a #2. The options you have with him in the lineup makes opposing defenses have to spend valuable time studying and practicing for. (Especially if your #1 is a pocket passer)

What if they only want to assess him for a backup QB role, kind of as an insurance policy? HOw do you think he might stack up in that capacity against other available #2's / #3's on the depth chart? Does that role maybe make him more attractive?

Ton of raw talent that got him by..but when defenses started adjusting to him..that's when his cracks started to manifest themselves.

Yeah. They've got Carr. Why would they look at CK as anything other than a backup?

The Lions should've worked him out, after Goff we have pure garbage at back-up. Kaepernick should've been signed years ago, what crime did he commit.....none.
The same people they were so aghast at him taking a knee, are the same ones cheering on the red hat team at the U.S. Capitol on Jan 6.
