I think he should hope he is convicted. If he is, he won't be put in gen pop he'll be in solitary like Clifford Robert Olson was and Bernado is. Because if he gets off, I'll bet you dollars to donuts he'll be dead within a year.

In a very similar case in Missisauga, Michele Liard, who was involved in the kidnapping and murder of a 13 year old girl, was found not guilty by a jury.
Sometimes, when you read a statement like this, my faith in humanity crumbles a little more still.
Then I realize: of course there is someone who will make this sort of dysfunctional statement. Those are the Rafferty's, Bernardo's and Gacy's of this world and such ilk of the sort.
The majority of the jurors are female and generally they are reluctant to convict. In fact, there was a case in B.C. where a female juror (Gillian Guess) fell in love with the defendant (Peter Gill on trial for 1st degree murder).
I think there is a 50/50, but not 100%, chance he could walk. Also, see the Michelle Liard case where she was acquited in the kidnapping and murder of a 13 year old girl. Even in the Robert Picton case, I think he was convicted of 2nd and not 1st degree murder.
