Will I get a parking ticket?

Guys,

I was dropping off something at an office near King and Spadina this afternoon. I parked on a side street for two minutes.

When I get back to my car there was a parking enforcement car right behind my car and the guy was in the car using his palm ticketing machine.

As soon as I saw I had no ticket on my windshield, I fleed from the scene.

My question is: Will I get a ticket via mail?

Your input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

CH

If he punched in your license plate # you are most likely F__cked

Not only that but since you cant pay it you have to wait for the late notice in the mail, which will be more $$$

You were right

In order for a ticket to be valid it much be placed on the windshield. If you get a notice in the mail take it to court.

You really don't want to know
The whole "ticket on windshield" concept is gone with the new electronic ticketing machine. Once he's keyed in the plate number the ticket is electronically logged into the system.

It's totally legal for a police service officer (be it constable or parkign enforcement) to mail a ticket to you.

Sorry, but there are lots of parking lots in that area that would have cost less than a $30 ticket.

A brief check of the Toronto Municipal Bylaws shows that the rules surrounding actually delivering the parking ticket (i.e. putting it on your windshield) were repealed in 2004.

Dropping someone off??????//

Why would you be out f the car if you were dropping someone off????

You say it was for 2 minutes but could it not have been just as easily 2 hours........You were not in your vehicle yet you were just dropping someone off.

Hmmmmmmm..Sounds like you were parked and not just standing.

Thanks Papasmerf

Dear Papasmerf...I was indeed dropping "something" rather than "someone" off. I was away for 2 minutes...Thanks for your input. If the ticket arrive in the mail, I will pay...

Pretty sure parking illegally doesn't contravene the Criminal Code, hence no crime to flee.
