A sex game that left Crystal Boarder's husband dead was a tragic act that went awry, her lawyer, David Smith, said yesterday while calling for a jail sentence to be served at her home.
Boarder, 31, yesterday received an 18-month conditional sentence by Guelph provincial court Justice David Carr.
During the first 12 months of her sentence, Boarder is to be confined in her own home and only allowed out for functions involving her two children, to perform her 40 hours of community service or to seek medical or dental attention for herself or her children.
For the next six months she is to abide by a curfew to be in her house between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Boarder faced charges of criminal negligence causing death after her husband, Tony Boarder, 46, died of asphyxiation after he was hanged in the barn next to their home on Highway 7, just outside Rockwood. Smith told the court the sex act the couple was engaged in last Sept. 8, was similar to other acts they had both performed on numerous occasions before.
