No Class - All the way!!!

Ya, but it was all worth it to see Alfredsson in LA LA Land. :)
The Laffs:

No class organization.
No class players.
No class fans. (Cheering for opposing players to get hurt. I guess that's what three years out of the play-offs does for you.)

It was a bush-league hit by a douchebag wearing a cage. Three borderline incidents in one game by a guy who couldn't stay healthy and had no other worthwhile contributions this season.

The Fisher knee. The Redden trip. And the Alfredsson head shot. Perhaps not illegal by the rules, but cheap shots all.

Until the idiots at the NHL head office and NHLPA get together and make shots to the head illegal, we will have this discussion forever.

There is absolutely no reason to allow any sort of hit to the head in the game; but for whatever reason, the neanderthals running the league (players, GMs, owners and the executive office) seem to think that removing headshots will somehow destroy the integrity of the game.

Interesting, objective analysis. That's quite a hockey mind you've got there.
Also, refer to my prior post about people living in glass houses.

I think you're over reacting. If you watch the slow-mo, you'll see that Bell was cocking his shoulder back to hit Alfie just before Alfie turned into him, in a very careless way mind you. The fact that you don't like Bell doesn't change the context of that hit.
And BTW, some Senator fans are ok with Neil and McGratten pushing the envelope with other players and seem to think it's a one way street.

As someone who has sufferred from concussions and knows people whose lives were ruined and permanently altered by them, I don't like head shots. Period. It's unnecessary in the game, particularly with the shoulder and elbow armour the bigger and faster players now wear.

I could care less what the Ottawa players and fans do or don't do - my stance is not about team loyalty or a like or dislike of Bell.
My venom directed at Bell was more about context than anything - he hasn't done anything this year and went out with what seemed to be injurious intent - a knee on knee, a trip on a guy going back for the puck at the end boards and a head shot, all while wearing a cage so he couldn't face the retribution of "the code". And btw, Neil's hit on Drury last year was just as bush...

When was the last time the Toronto Maple Leafs won three play-off series in one year?

Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock.............tick-tock, tick-tock.

OK, don't burn anymore brain cells Jazzpig, Ill put you out of your misery. It was a trick question, the answer is NEVER!!

Sounds to me you don't like him.
I didn't see the game and whatever else Bell did, so maybe I'm not bringing any prejudice to this play.
I agree that a player shouldn't look for opportunities to hurt another player but in the same breath, you can't expect a player to re-evaluate perfectly acceptable behaviour in split seconds every time another player negligently puts himself in a vulnerable postion.
Bell, in my opinion, didn't go after Alfie to hit him in the head, he went to knock him off his skates while Alfie carelessly skated in over the blueline without a care in the world and was shooting on goal...what do you expect?
And BTW, cage or no cage, Bell doesn't alter his game. If he is put on the ice, he's expected to play his game.

If you're of legal drinking age, which I'm questioning, I suggest you pour yourself a drink and calm down. You really do sound like a buffoon.

And how many Stanley Cups have they won, don't think too hard you might ruin the few remaining brain cells you have :)

You're not reading what I'm posting in its totality.

I don't personally dislike Mark Bell; I despise what he did. He cheap-shotted 3 players in one game. He could have ended 3 seasons (and possibly careers) in one game that meant nothing to the Leafs. The cage allowed him to do so without fear of retribution. Whether you like it or not, there is a code in hockey and taking cheap shots and runs at the opposition while wearing a full cage or visor is a definite no-no.

As I said, I'm fundamentally opposed to head shots of any kind. It's simply unnecessary, too dangerous and needs to be taken out of hockey. While this action is not illegal presently, it shows a lack of fundamental respect for your fellow players, which is why I hate what he did so much. I am just as, if not more, angry that he went after Fisher's knee and tripped Redden up as he was skating back on an icing-type play. Again, a lack of respect and a dangerous play...

As Rafael Palmeiro would say: The Ottawa Senators will never win the Stanley Cup, I cannot say it any clearer than that. The Ottawa Senators will NEVER win the Stanley Cup.

But that doesn't change the fact that Mark Bell is a headless douchebag and a coward. His actions on and off the ice speak for themselves. I feel a great sense of shame that he wears a Leafs jersey.

....and that wonderful shot that the Neanderthal Neil took at Briere last season was a clean hit??..and there you have Brian Murray, whining about the hit....but when Neil did it , he was finishing his check??...and Neil's hit was later than Bell's.

I will give Crusty a lot of credit for this much...he said he should have been more aware of his surroundings before the hit...

as for the 1st part....I will say the Sens will never win the Cup in 2008...bet the house on it...
