weird. However I have known Well known agencies on this board To use gift cards For certain events Deposit. That worked out fine. So they're not always a scam.Well im never taking a gift card again a gentleman wanted to pay me Amazon gift card instead of etransfer for a video chat.I told him no,but he insisted on paying me this card.So i click on link to gift card and my Amazon has my escort name and japanese credit cards linked saying make a payment. i came back to the guy and i told him i cant deposit your gift card it wants me to make payment. long story short amazon goes an investigation i didnt know if this guy scammed me yet. So i end up 2 days later get it straightened out and they say yes you have gift card. so i let him know its ok to do video chat and he says ok thanks now i dont hear from him for days. NEVER will i do gift cards again. too much stress in this situation.
If for a deposit or pre-pay, likely a scam. Could be legit if you meet and hand over cards when you normally would give the cash. I used to see someone several years ago that often asked to be payed with visa gift cards after I saw her a few times. She said it allowed her pay for things on-line and at self checkouts. She also felt that some cashiers were judging her when paying with large amounts of cash. It also reduces the amount of her cash deposits which can bring unwanted attention. Why, all of a sudden are ladies demanding g gift cards and won’t take cash?
is this some sort of scam?
or am I missing something…
You are leaving a digital trail.Purchasing gift cards with my credit card is practical plus I accrue dividends.
Yes reducing the amount of cash deposits can help with tax avoidance.................tax avoidance. ( screw the CRA )
I'm lost on this logic. Cash has no digital imprint and the use does not require identification to pass or use it. The reason tradesmen take cash is for tax avoidance. Good luck giving them gift cards.Gift card = tax avoidance. ( screw the CRA )
If she keeps depositing large amounts of cash into a bank it might raise some red flags.I'm lost on this logic. Cash has no digital imprint and the use does not require identification to pass or use it. The reason tradesmen take cash is for tax avoidance. Good luck giving them gift cards.

Not if she created a business account. Only red flag is if she is depositing over $10,000. Many businesses do cash deposits on a regular basis without any questions. If she keeps depositing large amounts of cash into a bank it might raise some red flags.
