I'm still pissed that Sting played the halftime show at the NBA All-Star Game. Drake should have done it with this Legend of Canadian music.

Listened to back to back I sort of get it. Maestro Fresh Wes came out 20 years too early.

Im pissed that Sting played as well. I know why they picked Sting. This event isnt for the players..not even so much for the fans. All Star weekend is for the NBA elite. Owners, League Office folk. This is there weekend. Sting caters to them a bit more.

MY choice, and what should have been a NO BRAINER would have been PRINCE. He was an elite performer, LOVED basketball, and had a very strong connection wth Toronto. that would have been amazing.

I'm not a fan of his music, but he is quite the poet on the mic (for this generation of hip-hop). His free style disses of Meek Mill and Lil' Wayne were hilarious.

If his music had more substance like Public Enemy, Boogie Down Productions, or NWA; he'd have my respect.

Some of you motherfuckers just sound old.

Your parents said the same of your music.

I dont get Drake either. IMHO hes not even the best Rapper that Canada has to offer. I think Classified and Madchild are much better performers then him.

This really being his only true claim to fame
Canadians fall all over themselves when someone from Canada seems to make it
Pathetic really his only claim to fame is his nationality
His only claim to fame? It isn't several chart topping records? Banging Rihanna and every other hot piece of ass? His appearances on SNL? None of that no. It's the fact he's Canadian.

I don't think it's Canadians falling over themselves as you guys clearly demonstrate. It's a different ugly side of Canadians. We're harder on our own. Almost every Canadian that's had great success has had to it outside of Canada. We've always been harder on our own.

Barca is right, except for Justin Biber (who is revered in Canada for the money he makes) most Canadian artists have had to travel the hard road.

The best example is Glenn Gould, he was unknown in Canada when he broke big in New York. The Goldberg Variations was the first Stereo-LP, the performance and the technology became a sensation. However Gould didn't get properly feted in Canada until the 70's. By that time he had become a cultural giant in Europe, his recordings became part of the curriculum for musical education.

But Canadians love money: Justin Biber > Glenn Gould.

Although he's not as talented as The Weeknd, I don't begrudge Drake his success. He's smart, charismatic and knows what works.

And he's been good to the city and the Raptors...900 million hits!

Older generations should not try to understand the music choices of younger ones.

Don't worry, today's youngsters are tomorrow's oldsters. When you get old you'll just stand back and say, "it's all been done before". Because it has.

drake isn't even popular. Most people don't give a fuck about drake. I've never even heard of this guy before today but his entertainment medium - described as 'music' but that term is being used most loosely - is trash. His whole career is premised on being awful but marketed well.

The Grateful Dead...now that's some fucking music
