Why do men post reviews?

I am asking a serious question. I have noticed that men have lots of different writing styles and go into different depths of description when writing reviews. I am curious as to what the reasons are? Is it simply to help out the lady?
I have had it said to me by a few people that for some men it is a form of lockeroom bravado. The post about their studly exploits in a way to elicit envy from other men....."look at me, i made the lady moan and writhe, rang her bell half a dozen times, I am Much Man" Is this true? Do you use your review to stroke your own ego?
I am honestly puzzled I guess.
I would appreciate honest input as well as open discussion. Perhaps some insight may come of it.

I can't speak for others but I can tell you why I post reviews.

I found several reviews I read some years ago very helping in making choices. Then I figured I should pitch in if I expect to get helpful information from others.

No more complicated than that. No pseudo-freudian analysis required.

Even if the lady in question already has numerous reviews? Will you post more than once about the same lady?

Good to know by the way. :)

To enlighten other hobbyists, for the most part, and to relive the encounter again myself.

I've come under scrutiny for being rather long on words so to speak, and I'll be the first to admit that I am, but I have never posted information about anyone that wasn't first approved by the people involved.

I have also written reviews for my dates with ladies that prefer NOT to have too many details, so I don't.

Posting an updated review is always a good idea. Service levels can change. As I check on a lady a review that is old doesn't carry as much weight.

Remember a recent review is also good advertising for the provider. Many times we members randomly browse.

It is a REVIEW Board. One then would expect a community to develop who finds it valuable to read & also contribute reviews to avaid BAD encounters/ rip-offs etc. That being said I find only a minority of our clients care to check out review boards or even write reviews.

Very good and valid questions by the OP.

Doing reviews and reading reviews for a few years, I can say the OP has touched quite a few guys with her "guess", but not all. Reasons for writing review varies a lot, and it has something to do with the reviewer himself: truthful or deceiving, humble of boastful, fair or vengeful...

I have done about 20-30 reviews, most of them are TOFTT variety. I find it hard to do reviewing, to be honest. Try to remain honest, how do you go about saying things that may hurt a lady's feeling or her mean of earning? Praising someone but to convey a clear and concise encounter takes some doing, if one doesn't like to be over-the-top hype. All of my reviews reflects who I am, how I see the SPs, and always truthful. I'll come back to the thread to answer any honest question that may arise, being accountable for what I report. I try to express how I think about the provider without hiding critical infos, nor disguise any shortcomings BUT in a humane way, always with the ladies' feeling foremost.

Since I jointed Terb, I have cut down on the bad encounter significantly, but I have had about 4 bad experiences directly resulted by shilling by veteran members. THIS is the main reason I do review:doing my part to balance out the true and untrue reviews, as much as I possibly can.

People don't like the unknown and some like to report back to the community when they TOFFT. Same thing happens with new restaurants, movies, books, etc. At the end of the day, an SP review is just guy gossip.

Here are a number of different answers in no particular order.

It's an expensive hobby. Providers who are consistently well reviewed are usually a fairly good bet for a good time, good value for the dollar.
Providers who are consistently reviewed negatively will certainly get a pass from me and others.
Both these reasons are a good reason for repeat reviews - consistency. Good or bad makes for less surprises.

I post reviews as a form of diary keeping. I can't keep records at home, so boards like terb are a great way to track my activities.

As far as helping out the provider, sure why not. If she treats me nicely, why shouldn't I relate that to others and help her build her business.
If the session sucks, that should also be expressed, but I'm not in favour of making personal attacks towards the provider. If it was a bad session, I'll state the facts, possibly suggest others save their money. If I feel the session sucked simply because there was no chemistry between me and the MPA, I'll say that.
I have no qualms about commenting on a place. If the shower or the facilities aren't clean, that has to be said. Again, no personal attacks toward the MPA.

reviews are extremely helpful for others to make decisions and 'learn' a bit. i would say most ppl would find reading reviews useful in their decision process. also even tho someone has been reviewed many times, i still see the value of more reviews since I want to know she is still awesome now.

As I see it, this is a business that invites all kinds of shady characters and opportunities for scams. We apreciate the opportunity to do a 'reference check' before putting yourself at risk or spend hard earned cash on someone who is not any good at their business.
I'd be interested to know how the ladies feel about the reviews?

There's an ebb and flow to the board. Back in the day, it was very much about sharing experiences (good and bad) and good natured banter. Then ppl figured out that reviews can be an effective marketing tool and the shilling began. For a time, it seemed like only fanboys and fanatics posted reviews, undoubtedly to win the favour of the subject ladies/spa. The reviews were not necessarily false, but they were highly favourable and negative comments were berated. That seems to have toned down now. But, because of that experience, the "real" reviews and information exchange has shifted to PMs and PM-circles.

You bring up a very good point! And also a useful one for the ladies as well. They constantly put themselves at risk when choosing to see a new client. Reviews are also a way for the ladies to gain some incite as to whom they are dealing with as well. (Provided the lady knows your on-line handle.) I for one, painstakingly research every SP I've ever seen. Before I even contact a lady, I do my homework to make sure she has what I'm looking for with respect to physical attributes, available services, price range, compatibility etc... Once I make contact, I invite that lady in question to do her research on me as well and through this we are able to establish an on-line rapport.... If we agree to go the next step, we do. If not, no harm, no foul.
