Why Are All Fast Sprinters Jamaicans?

Whatever race does best in whatever sport is usually determined by genetics. There's a reason why some many strong powerlifters come from Iceland, its because they stem from the old vikings who were very strong.

Jamaican sprinters are descendants from slaves who come from a particular corner of Africa which traditionally had tribes with very strong legs. These genetics are passed down through the generations, and thats why they produce so many fast sprinters
Bringing genetic study into such topic is very sensitive. If our DNAs make us have different muscle strength or bone structure, they could also make our other organs, such as brain, different. Is it true that some groups (could be defined by their originals, ethnic group, or race) have more smart genes in their gene pool than others?

I think intelligence through genetics is tougher to investigate because things like education system and parenting play a role as well.

But the population of Jamaica is less than 3 million. Why doesn't West Africa produce the fastest runners? Nigeria alone has a population of 158 million.

Poverty? Proximity to international cities? It's easier for a Jamacian to enter the US and compete in sports to gain recognition than for a West African.
I dont know why Algerians and North Africans are included in that map btw. They are not exactly "west African".

Jamaicans aren't wealthy people. Forget Nigeria for a moment. We can also compare Jamaicans directly with US Blacks - a population of 38 million. Why does a population the size of Toronto produce more sprinting talent than 38 million Blacks living in America?

Diet is probably another factor. Jamaicans eat good hardy foods - rice, beans, chicken.

Thats a really good question I dont have an answer to.

I do know from playing soccer myself that Nigerian players were almost always the fastest on the field. Why that doesnt translate into track & field I have no idea

In Usain Bolt case, training system and parenting played a role as well. He grew up with both his parents, his brothers and sisters, and his relatives. He didn't win school's 100m race in his early high school years. Only after he started training hard, his talent showed. Without the hard work Usain and his trainers did and all the support from his family, he would not be the same Usain Bolt today. Just because the training/education system and parenting played a role, we can't say his genes is not a factor.

I do agree that intelligence through genetics is tough to study because intelligence is such a broad concept and hard to be measured.

So, if we mate an Asian male with a Black female, their son would be super fast, have a large cock and be a whiz at math?

Black females also dominate running events.

Rushton didn't have any genetic data to back up his theory and failed to separate environment factors from others. David Suzuki had an easy job that day. But can scientists today conclude that intelligence is influence by environment only, has absolutely nothing to do with genes?

Back to the topic, the reaction of the debate just proved my point. It is very sensitive to bring genetic study in such topics because environment (social structure, nutrition, education/training system, etc.) is a key factor. Maybe this could answer the question GG2 asked you.

When you run away from authorities all your life then you'll become extremely fast. This was one of the many quotes from "Jimmy the Greek".
