I don't know if I would call Bad Boy semi-iconic. Bad Boy wasn't paying its suppliers; and I have read that Bad Boy has used the Bankruptcy Act to restructure itself several times in the past.

And yet people choose to shop there; and while I can understand the upset of the guy in the Instagram clip who paid money for a bed for his daughter and now has no money and no bed, the sad reality is that nooooooooooobody is going to make him whole.

Canadian Tire laid off 3% of its staff due to declining sales; and same store sales at Sleep Country are down 5.5%. I think the Canadian economy is in recession as we speak.
the price competition is getting fiercer...Canadian Tire shelled their "price match" policy which to me is a big dent to their market....they're taking away the chance to compete with Home Depot, Lowes & Princess Auto (which is getting some traction in the Market)... Consumers love to feel like they won the bargain when they can shop one item and get the best deal...Canadian Tire is now out of that target market... I just bought a Dewalt Drill Set for $197 at Homedepot (price was $319) because Amazon sells the same product for $197...price match is a good thing...

That's the same store I went to and they closed a few months ago. No surprise that there's an IKEA a few blocks away.

Future Shop was also infamous for hawking the pointless warranty. Best Buy does it too though, but at least their people are nowhere near as aggressive.
the lazy Boy store has re located to a spot off Queensway opposite Sherway Gardens...its between a Hakim Optical and Homesense...............ironically Leons used to have a store there but closed up quite awhile ago

I know that plaza too. It was the original location of Cineplex Queensway decades ago. There's another business that has to be very careful because the online experience is more than good enough for most movies outside of blockbusters where you want Imax, 3D, etc.or just want to get out of the house.

I thought Mel passed away in 2021? Did they dig him up and make him a pitchman again?

I think Rona will be the next big box store to start closing some stores and laying off staff. When a big equity firm takes over a company they will start slashing to save money to help fund the cost of take over. Declining economy is the perfect excuse for slashing.
Rona is owned by Lowes, which is re-branding to Rona...

And.....who owns Rona?
OK. Listen, this is how it went.
Lowes came to Canada. Later bought Rona. Operated as 2 separate business. Sycamore bought Lowes Canada(who owns Rona). So Sycamore owns Rona.
Sycamore is rebranding all Lowes stores as Rona.
Got it?

This is the aftermath of Ukrainian war. Since the beginning of this war, price of everything goes up and so interest rate and so triggering recession. The world won't forgive mr. Putin

What you don't believe his claim that he is trying to de-nazify Ukraine for the good of his country and the world. Everytime I hear the word de-nazify I think of some grade B- movies with bad plots, bad special effects and really bad ham acting.

I only visited Bad Boy once to get a quote on an appliance. The salesman was a total asshole like I owed him something. I had the same attitude at Lazy Boy. Good riddance to businesses that pressure people into buying especially in an age where the customer knows more about products than the retailer.

Ikea is good enough for most people even if the quality can be so-so and the need for self-assembly.
Same with me. Went there once and the salesman was so greasy, guy was a used car salesman stereotype. Walked out and never went back.

Won't miss it at all. Remember Futureshop, overpriced garbage like 30 bucks for a cable?

Every time some shitty restaurant closes, someone would whine about the loss of an iconic restaurant in the neighbourhood, there is a reason it's closing.
