So who's got $13MM kicking around?
You know I can see 5,000 sq ft being more than ample for a larger family (7+) but 13,334 sq ft. just seems plain ridiculous to me. If I had that kind of money to burn I'd be pulling a Jay Leno and building a car collection.

Naw. Once you start looking for jobs, you see why no one goes or stays in these areas.

Of course the opportunities are limited compared to areas that are desirable. However people do work and find employment in these areas and cost of living is much more reasonable.

You may not find employment in your desired field but you can find other work.

It's really depends of peoples priorities. Living in Toronto and not owning a home or living elsewhere and owning a home. Making 6 figures in T.O or 50k in another province. It's all a trade off. Some people can't see past the lifestyle and objectively see the numbers that make financial sense.
