he`s purely a MMA fighter now with a heavy boxing style and at 34yrs. he`s up there in age, past his prime and came to the show a little late, but not without experience. I`d expect him to make waves, but not for long.

he does have a link to https://terb.cc though... can anyone spot it?

He's more of a spectacle than anything.....
Brock Lesnar will make more of an impact on the Heavyweight standings than Kimbo....

Kimbo has got to fight some legitimate competition before he even gets any respect in the world of MMA (Tank wasn't even good back in his prime).....

His knockout of Tank was pretty entertaining......

Kimbo is an AMAZING street fighter!!!!!!

Excellent striking skills and can take a hit. However if he is with a well rounded MMA fighter who has that knockout punch then that would be a hell of a fight!!!

At the moment he's an late starting up & commer / novelty act making the news by knocking out half-demented middle aged men who havn't trained seriously for nearly a decade.

Wrong. You've watched WAY too much YouTube.

Kimbo Slice is a very good bare-knuckle street boxer. Real street fights are basically no-holds barred MMA-style fights. Kimbo got chumped by a useless, out-of-shape Boston cop named Sean Gannon in an organized "street fight" that had some (undefined) rules.

If he were to ever fight a well-rounded MMA fighter with a knockout punch in a sanctioned fight under the unified MMA rules, he'd last less than a minute.

Takedown. Strikes from the mount. Submission or knockout. "It's all over!"

If Brock Lesner - a younger, much bigger, stronger, near-Olympic calibre wrestler who has trained in MMA non-stop for almost 18 months - only lasted 93 seconds against a middle-of-the-road heavyweight with questionable stamina in Frank Mir, Kimbo has no chance.

i agree. kimbo has to earn some cauliflower ears first before he's named AMAZING... you guys gotta admit that's a bare requirement initiation to the club...

I don't know why people continue to compare MMA with street bare knuckle fighting. Kimbo is a great bare knuckle fighter....he can take a punch, and throw with amazing power....these fights rarely last more than a few minutes at the most. The only, weakly enforced, rule is you're there to throw...no takedowns, no grappling...see who can knock who out first...period. That Gannon fight, Kimbo's only problem there is that he got winded, there was a lot of grabbing etc.....he's a street fighter....he probably smokes, drinks, eats like crap, but he fights on the streets to get paid....period. MMA fighters are highly trained athletes, and most have incredible conditioning, and have to abide by certain rules. You can't throw a guy like Kimbo into an MMA fight and compare him with guys who have been fighting that way for years. Same as you can't take an MMA fighter and say go on the street and have a bare knuckle fight...you can't grapple, wrestle, submit....it's either knock out or be knocked out period....they are completely different things.

Will Kimbo be an amazing MMA fighter....likely not, but will he be fun to watch, and will he get the crowds, and does he have a punchers chance....he sure does. Plus with Bas Ruten in his corner anything can happen....lol....at least it will be fun to watch!

It sounded from the commentary during UFC81 that Brock only trained a week with Miletich?

Most top fighters try to train with as many camps as possible to get more experience and different training partners and techniques.

Brock has trained with several MMA camps, including Miletich Fighting System Elite, but has been based with Greg Nelson's Minnesota MMA Academy since mid-2006.

MMA is not street fight style either, at least not the current UFC version which appears to be becoming the standard. I think you can't use any leg strikes on guy if he doesn't have both feet on the ground makes it biased to favour wrestling & submisson skills. I also don't see any muy thai style elbows so I presume those aren't allowed either?

Probably, although in fairness he does seem to have lost some weight from his midsection since starting MMA compared to some of the amateur video I remember.

True, but for some reason MMA promotions have always been fond of with bringing in old guys who've been doing other combat sports for 20 years and throwing them right in with a credible MMA veteran. It would be like an NHL hockey team signing Elvis Stojko.
