I am pretty happy wtih my TD, I haven't made any contributions in a while and it's not at 680$. from $500 from when i started it a year ago.

oo yea that is not knowing the % rate I get and I have 130 sitting ina daily interest account and $500.00 in the account I opened now that I have logged in an checked my rate. I am getting ....

1 yr GIC!!! I assume that you need to access the money in a year as GICs are not a great investment vehicle (frankly barely keep up with inflation). The only caution is the CDIC does not insure mutual funds so if you go the mutual fund route, you should be cautious to not put your money in a fly by night biz.

Discount brokerage

I would highly recommend going with a discount broker. You should be able to get CDN Libor -.25 or .5

Canadian 1 Yr libor is 5.09 currently
