I use the PM feature on a daily basis, i'm curious if anyone else like moderators or maybe Fred Zed can view what I receive or what I send ... thoughts ?
vbulletin has word censorship options. So, no matter where you post those words, they will be censored, and replaced. Both on the board, and the PM, as they both reference the same word list.I'm curious as to how some PM's are censored though... e.g. other forum's url's get routinely "x'd" out...
Not trying to stir the pot, just curious is all...
Not according to post # 2...All boards of this type have the capability to view pm's. It's built into the software.
Yes, I can read your thoughts, but that's because secretly I'm Santa Claus and am making a list..... i'm curious if anyone else .... can view what I receive or what I send ... thoughts ?
Both answers can be correct. The software can have the capability of reading pms. The admin team may not have been given access or permission. Not according to post # 2...

I thought I read in previous posts that any member who receives "threatening" or "hate" PM's can forward them to the Mods for appropriate action which might mean banning the sender." banned " due to " private discussions subjects " they were participating in via " Personal Messages "
yes thats rightI thought I read in previous posts that any member who receives "threatening" or "hate" PM's can forward them to the Mods for appropriate action which might mean banning the sender.
my understanding is that it was the " subject of discussion ", not anything else, ... i think nilihism might be on to something ... may raise flags to administratorsI thought I read in previous posts that any member who receives "threatening" or "hate" PM's can forward them to the Mods for appropriate action which might mean banning the sender.

^^^my thoughts as well^^^This forum is running vbulletin. Ask the company that makes it this question.
It depends of the permissions that the board administrators have (in all likelihood- I haven't messed with vBulletin in forever). It has been said that they don't have permission to do that. However, the system administrator can always scrape the data from the database as per #2. But that would be a little tedious. As far as the 'censoring' goes-- That doesn't require and human intervention beyond initial setup and updating. (If you have full 'superuser' / admin / root privileges on the hardware there's not much the software can do.)Not according to post # 2...
