I find most of contemporary porn really boring, just like the really early stuff (the silent porn "loops"). The early stuff at least had novelty going for it - porn was not nearly as available as it is now. The old-old and contemporary stuff are also similar in that the "actors" in them couldn't and can't act. It's as though porn flick production has come full-circle. It's the stuff in the middle that I like.

The porn actors who can act or at least get across some real heat and sensuality stand out for me. For example, Georgina Spelvin, C.J. Laing, Vanessa Del Rio, Leslie Bovee, Taija Rae, Loni Saunders, Desirae Cousteau, Colleen Brennan. I don't know of any contemporary actors who compare, but I also don't watch a lot of contemporary porn (just enough to get bored, which isn't a lot).

I moved from Montreal to NYC in 1970 (during the October crisis) to work in animation, and moonlighted as a camera man first in porn loop production and then in some early porn features. Most of the loop stuff was grim - all pimply asses, dirty feet, and often high on one thing or another. The feature stuff was fun and quite professional, not nearly as needle-bitten.

Without doubt, Maria Ozawa is beautiful. Actually, there's a lot of buzz on javtalk.com -- a site devoted to Japanese porn -- about the fact Maria has a DP movie coming out in December.
