Your parents were taught this, your Grandparents were taught this, it goes back several centuries. You're conditioned to believe in this. Then, as it turns out, these 'Great Men' were slave owners, traders, bigamists, hypocrites, blowhards and opportunists. Most likely, their great deeds were done by Black, Brown or Asian people and they just took the credit.

A couple of my friends were just gobsmacked and had no answers to give (this is a 'Face to Face' conversation, no anonymous board to hide behind). One was so incensed that he left the table (the rest of us paid his bill). Then my friend "Rick", super good guy, as Canadian as you can get, married to a Bollywood Beauty said: "I know I'm a suburban white guy that never had any sort of money or health problems. Somewhere down the line, I must have said or done something nasty to somebody. I'm hoping I didn't mean it. I hope I never do it again."

I paid for Rick's dinner.

I wonder if it was only "Rick" who realized that he was a racist, did Don realise how much of a racist he is too or was it more like a lecture than a conversion?

That's another story Mandrill, there was a big difference between the Moorish Invasion of Spain and Italy. The Berber/Moors did manage to conquer Sicily but the invasion of Italy eventually failed.

1) How could one guy have children who were three different races? Maybe we should leave out the hand-me-down stories that ended up in the bible.
2) According to the interweb, the British Empire was the largest by area and the Mongols were the largest contiguous one (and 2nd largest overall).
3) Anyone who thinks morals have anything to do with skin colour is messed up (and I think most people would rather be in a westernized democracy than be under an authoritarian power).

The Mongols actually conquered much of the lands that Muslims conquered and Alexander the Great earlier conquered. The Mongols and Alex left but the Muslims are still there on lands they conquered with the sword and forced the indigenous people to convert to Islam or be killed.
