I thought garbage man, McDonald's worker, and janitor were the quintessential profession that people looked down on. Seems that it's not true. They are more respected than lawyers, polilticians, and religious leaders.
So, am I right to assume that people here have more respect for a McDonald's worker than a lawyer? A janitor is a more respectful job than a priest? And a garbage man is more respected than a politician? And an escort is regarded more highly than lawyer, politician, or priest?
I think it's due to the difference between social status and the amount of respect you have, they do not necessarily go hand in hand.

All 3 comparisons have one thing in common, one works hard to provide a beneficial service to those around them, and the other is a leech who will lie, cheat and abuse people for personal power and money.

They are the worst. They figure you should pay 5 or 6 percent of the selling price for something that essentially sells itself. They have 0 education and 0 skills other than (maybe) knowing the neighbourhood.
I like to relate it to architects and or engineers. If the average guy were building a house and went to an architect or engineer to DESIGN him a house and the architect told the client 6 percent, the guy would walk away saying, "what are you nuts?". But a real estate agent, 5 percent, "yeah sure, where do I sign? " And yet the architect or engineer spent 5 years or more in university, another 5 years learning and probably another 5 years honing his or her skills. The real estate agent took a couple of night classes.
The problem is that Canadians have been bamboozled to believe you have to have a real estate agent. All well and good, but those fees need to be about 1.5 percent total for both agents not 5 to 6. Especially given what real estate has done in the last 10 years.

Selling your home privately sounds great but most are lowball offers and you have to parade people around your house. Agents get 2.5% usually split with the agency, plus they pay rent to the agency. Most make little money.
It's not as easy to get licensed anymore either. Plus homeowners always think their house is worth more than it is. Many of the start ups like buy the owner dot com have failed.
For me it's cops without a doubt. Most departments have been investigated for sexual misconduct, rape, bullying, misogyny etc.

2) soft, entitled civil servants, especially in bureaucracies that spend all day dreaming up new regulations and paperwork for the private sector, .who do not have a clue what life is like for the rest of us without guaranteed indexed pensions and low retirement ages and no pressure of any kind.

Cops! The very definition of the job is holding up laws that are by nature colonialist, racist, and otherwise discriminatory. They’re good for directing traffic and that’s it. We don’t need them, we need other services.

For me it would be anyone who does financial domination for a living - perhaps I just don't get it, why the f*ck would someone pay somebody for doing nothing. Also so called social media influencers, I don't know about you, but they have ZERO influence on my decisions lol
