Right......just like we see being played out with the price of OIL now, eh....:eyebrows:
Exactly, demand is going up, supply not so much or not at all, so prices are rising to equalize supply and demand. And higher supply includes ALTERNATIVES. This is exaclty how is should be. We see higher prices and so we economize and look for alternatives, build more fuel effeicient vehicles, etc etc. If something is experiencing the above conditions it makes perfect sense.

As the price rises it becomes more and more profitable to come up with alternatives. Like a farmer who notices that, say, barley prices are really high relative to wheat - he plants more to take advntage

That must be very comforting to the poor people who cannot afford to buy rice when the price rises in order to balance supply and demand.
Well, what is the alternative? Government subsidies? They just encourage people to use more than they would under higher prices, which just exacerbates the problem AND blows a hole in government finances. Rationing? HELLO huge government bureaucracy, and queueing similalar to what was experienced in the Eastern Bloc during communism. Everything was cheap, but never available.

Anyhow, if someone can't afford to buy basic necessities like rice, there is something wrong with his income level, not the price of rice.

Well that question may never be answered.
Again your piss-poor communication skills do not make it clear whom you are referring to
So I will guess Applejack is a reference to Blackrock13
(only because he was the last poster prior to your nonsense)

Anyways Blackrock13 may also be an extremely intelligent person, so it may be difficult to determine which of us is the lesser of the two
However I can tell you that both he and I (along with many many more) regard you as a mental midget, only to be toyed with for entertainment purposes
Laugh that off, clown !

I'm surprised none of you mentioned GHANA.
Why do you think Obama visited that country almost immediately when he took office?

There are rumours about the regime in Ghana mistreating its people. I would not be surprised if a regime change was found necessary.

.... and where did you hear these rumours from, the anti monarchists? Ghana has one of the most stable and well founded governments in Africa.

Actually, what they need is sound economic policies to raise their incomes so that they can afford to eat rice.

MUST you constantly be completely silly?

God forbid there will ever be famine and shortage of medicine whenever and
wherever disasters hit.

Anyway whatever the economists' definition of shortage is where can I
buy tickets to major baseball games, concerts or whatever events next
time they are sold out?
