Where should I visit in the US?

I was in Mauii once about a decade ago.

If I had all the money in the world, I would buy a winter house there. Hawaii and Mauii in particular is great because:

1. It's not a rah rah USA USA kind of place. In fact, most of the locals don't give a fuck about being part of the US. So they are pretty relaxed.

2. Since it is part of the US, you can drink the water and there is law and order. (Unlike any place you might go in the Caribbean.)

3. Climate - it's warm without being really fucking incredibly hot.

Hawaii is a great place to enjoy all of the above, but to me, the bid draw in the climate and the ocean (though if you're a beach guy, the beaches in the Dominican Republic are still some of the most amazing beaches I have ever seen, including Hawaii.)

Hawaii is the kind of place you go to see nature, the ocean, enjoy the climate. Not much else frankly.

San Francisco on the other hand just has "it". It's an experience that Hawaii is not. SF is a destination.

Pacific Northwest I spent 3 months in Oregon with work but had alot of time off Portland is great I was in the Hood River area just beautiful and so much to do.
