Where is the outrage?

The idiot perpetrator was promptly arrested and charged while her victim was speedily treated and recovered. Instead of asking for outrage, shouldn't you be praising a society that can handle even such outrageous and stupid behaviour so effectively.

Perhaps with that confidence in our society, we might be able to turn some attention to what we might do so that others don't also wind up with such lunatic ideas of how people behave.

Our lack of attention to such a basic 'membership package' for our society is maybe cause for outrage, but I've never found anger to be very helpful. Unless you're bent on attacking and killing someone.

.

No! If you want to be a good American, you NEED to have your "outrage" expressed by your surrogate...the media. Without it you are not a patriot!

Her innocent victim was rendered unconscious, by the defendant and her 14 year old co-defendant!

The point is that this seems to be largely swept under the rug, no riots, no Al Sharpton, no comments from the President or Eric Holder.

I do, however, foresee at least one and possibly two civil suits as well as the criminal charges.

In the context this did not mean sexual touching, rather laying hands on as in "stop doing X."

Traditionally (at least in the U.S.) classroom discipline has been considered an exception to Assault (along the lines of most jurisdictions approach to parental spanking) - grabbing is one thing - hitting an entirely different thing.

So you want riots and high dudgeon in high places over a routine arrest and efficient hospitalization of the victim? Don't we have overmuch of that useless crap already?

Just what in this sad case would you want us to fix by our outrage, and do differently? Tell us what your demonstrators' placards should say?

Sarcasm, OldJones, sarcasm.

By the way the riots and high dudgeon should be over the vicious assault of a school teacher, not the arrest of the two thugs who assaulted her.

Ah! Perhaps if you took the initiative, you could get such a demo going. Although I'm sure you'd stay well shy of rioting. Perhaps the reason there's not been such spontaneous expressions is because the incident was rare and unusual and the response swift and appropriate? But I'd march with you for Non-Violence For ALL.

Bullshit.

While I am loathe to cry "racism", your original post is clearly racist in inferring that if it were a BLACK teacher being beaten by a WHITE parent and WHITE student, it would be on every newscast but because the perpetrators are BLACK the media is conspiring with the blacks to sweep it under the rug.

In this case, the blacks aren't conspiring with the media, very unlikely. The media just doesn't see a big story in which a black woman attacked and knocked out a white teacher - happens everyday.
Besides, there's no video, doesn't make it that interesting.

So you figure, because the public gets upset when a white cop murders an unarmed black man, they should be EQUALLY UPSET (outraged) when an unarmed black woman beats up a white woman (who was admitted to hospital, but released sometime within 48 hours of the attack to "recover" at home)..??

You're also flabbergasted that African-American civil rights activists (like Al Sharpton) haven't shown up protest the fact that this unarmed black woman beat up a white woman??

Whoa.. You're right.. Huge double standard..

Aww c'mon. The guy with a hole in his shoe still gets to complain, even if he's way better off than the guys with no legs.

And it isn't as if Aardvark's saying the assailant and all who share her coloration likewise share blame, just that we—color and language are immaterial here—all should be rioting in support of the teacher. Presumably that's the sort of civics he wants his school system to offer. Wonder what the teacher-victim thinks; d'ya s'pose she favours blaming and shaming as a prime teaching tool?

I kinda think encouraging better efforts and setting a good examples is more productive.

So because the racist label might be thrown around that for some reason makes what you posted false?

I'm waiting for more info on this one... the woman's lawyer did say that the teacher did strike the 12 year old child. I'd be pretty furious myself if a teacher hit my kids!
If she had actually punched the girl why have no charges been preferred?

I rather doubt struck, I strong suspect grabbed as in 'X I've told you three times already not to do Y stop it now!'

What I'm saying and apparently your lack of knowledge of Al Sharpton's past history is showing. Is that there is more than a little irony when if it is a White who is seen as the aggressor, whether supported by the facts or not, there are riots, national television coverage, Al Sharpton and friends turn up, the President and Attorney General comment before an investigation is even completed. But when a Black strangles a woman to unconsciousness, the silence is deafening.

Would you feel that this thread would be better justified if she'd been strangled for another minute or so and suffered either irreversible brain damage or died?

You know there are hundreds of cases that make this demonstrably false, right? I think you've let your emotions get the better of you on this one because you don't usually come across as so ridiculous and clichéd - I had to double check to see who was posting.
