I need to deposit some US dollars in to my regular savings account in Canadian dollars. My first instinct is to go to where I normally bank (TD Canada Trust) but their rates are horrific :(

Do you NEED the money in CDN? Can you keep it US? If so you can open a US funds account but I warn you, the US dollar isn't doing well compared to ours so no matter where you go, the rates are low.

I need it in Canadian dollars since I will be using it to pay off some debt. The US Account thing is a great idea, but I don't have the luxury of waiting until the rates improve.

check out RBC. I heard that you can open both canadian and us account with them. You can transfer money between them at real markte rate. I haven't verify this information, but it will be worth your time investigating in case this is true. Good luck!

That's the case with most of the big banks....and your rate improves with the more money that you're exchanging.
