I need to deposit some US dollars in to my regular savings account in Canadian dollars. My first instinct is to go to where I normally bank (TD Canada Trust) but their rates are horrific
Do you NEED the money in CDN? Can you keep it US? If so you can open a US funds account but I warn you, the US dollar isn't doing well compared to ours so no matter where you go, the rates are low.
I need it in Canadian dollars since I will be using it to pay off some debt. The US Account thing is a great idea, but I don't have the luxury of waiting until the rates improve.

check out RBC. I heard that you can open both canadian and us account with them. You can transfer money between them at real markte rate. I haven't verify this information, but it will be worth your time investigating in case this is true. Good luck!
