Just my luck my playstation 3 has stopped working just after the warranty expired. Really don't want to get it replaced the way sony would have me do it (mail mine in and they mail me a new one for a rip off price) but I haven't seen any video game places that advertise doing repairs. Anyone have any suggestions?

Call some of the Gaming Stores like EB Games....If they can't fix it they should know somebody who can...

With the way all the bits are crammed in there, unless it's something really simple, the cost to fix it would be more than the unit costs unfortunately.

All that seems to be wrong with it is that the image on the screen freezed and now all that comes up is snow. how damn hard/expensive can that be to fix that they have to replace the whole unit?

I will ask at EB, hopefully they know someone I don't believe they do any fixing themselves.

If what's wrong is a little widget on one of the cards then it would be very hard to fix due to the proximity of all the other little widgets.... none of which appreciate being subjected to the heat that soldering irons produce.

If it's just a broken wire at the box then it can be cheaper, although you are most likely going to pay someone a bit just to look at it, regardless of whether they find something fixable or not.

Sorry to be negative, but I'm just being honest with you..... I don't know of any repair shops that are interested in doing this sort of thing anymore.
