Where can I get a bath tub liner to cover up a scratched bath tub?

I have never seen these things at the big box hardware stores, do I need to go to a special plumbing place for these plastic liners?

You can also get it reglazed. Meaning another coating on top of the bath tub. Did several times and looked great.

Is there a do-it-yourself kit for that? Where and how much?
No kit. Had some guy do it for 300 I think. But this is way back in the 80's-90's. Gave me a discount for doing 2 instead of one.
This is a messy process. THe walls have to be covered in plastic and everything removed. Can't walk in for 24hours, but only to check his work. This way not dust settle on the finish work. I think he used an air compressor.

Call around to see how much they charge. Remember there were no wall cut down or tiles removed.

I seem to remember seeing it at Home Depot. Basically you strip off the glazing on the existing enamel, then reapply a new one. As with any paint job prep and application are key. I think the kit I saw used a pad but if it were me, I'd mask off around the tub and spray it....

How I'd approach it is:
1) Make sure it is clean, and degrease it with an organic degreaser.
2) Sand the whole thing with 120 grit sand paper and clean
3) sand the whole thing with 220 sandpaper and clean once again
4) wipe the whole thing down with lacquer thinners to remove all the residue and dust

Spray new enamil on it. If you want a perfect job, let one coat dry, sand with 220 or 400 in between, apply another coat.

Gentlemen, so 'Bathfitters' reglazes?
No...there are guys in the phone book that specialize

You can buy touch up paint that matches for touch up of chips etc.
I have used it and if you take your time it looks good

Home Depot sells a kit. Clean, prep and paint with a brush. I think it was in the $50.00 range. I heard it gets good results.

Yeah, hopefully it has a self levelling paint. Anything done with a brush typically you can see brush strokes. That's why I said spray and sand it. You can get a perfect finish that way.

But further to the "insert", I think HD sells them too. Not sure if they just do a tub, or a tub and surround.

I just ordered and used the kit from tubbycanada.com.

Pretty easy to use and looks just like a new bathtub.

Are they still making those? I got one a couple of years back but I can't find any recently.

If you get the guy in to reglaze, cover all and remember to remove the screen in the window. It will accumulate glaze too, from random droplets in the air.

I did this years ago in an older home, put new life in the tub for cheap.
