Ever notice how Cops don't set up radar in the usual locations when it's cold out? Wonder why? Because it's cold outside, that's why. Politicians and Cops preach the evils of speeding and the need for more enforcement. But apparently this is only important to Cops when the weather is nice. I mean, who wants to stand outside in the cold, right?

Don't despair, revenue generation is sure to return with warmer weather in the coming months. Safety my ass!

Ride stops were set up on the coldest night of the year, weekend before last.
When I went through, I got waived by. They were just going for coffee (donut) Break.
I guess the city buys them lots of warm clothes for those chili nites.

You've got a point, I never see radar on Weston Rd, between Rutherford and Langstaff, in the winter.

You will see them on the 407, you're being taxed twice.

A buddy of mine left a St.Louis wings on a Sunday night and the cops pulled him over and said they were doing a ride check. Lucky he only had a pop. The cops were watching people leave and tailing them.

i got a speeding ticket for the speed i was going while BEHIND a police car on the highway. the cop's SUV was in the lane left of mine, i was coming up on the right aiming for the exit off the gardiner. when i saw the cop car, i immediately slowed down and when i passed her, i was way below the speed limit. she followed me off the exit and pulled me over for going "a little too fast while i was behind her".

there's no way they can radar me from a moving vehicle while i'm BEHIND her right? she told me it was possible. regardless, she gave me a ticket for going 110 (i think, could be a bit more) in a 90 zone. the trial's next month, so i'm going to ask for disclosure beforehand and see if they actually have any real evidence or if they were bluffing. but have they really reached those technological capabilities? guess i'll find out!

They can clock you coming from behind them, but they have to actually be set up for it with a rear antenna, and if they hadn't calibrated the device recently you can argue it may not have been accurate. Good luck fighting the ticket, I've found it to be worth it.

110 in a 90? That is crap. I figured they'd not nail you for 120 or less.

I wouldn't be too surprised if radar action is possible from the front and from behind...as in some other activities.

Wrong. They have both front and rear facing radar. My buddy works for traffic services. He game me a detailed explanation of all the bells and whistles in his unmarked cruiser when he came by my house last summer.

Likely the best you can do is plead guilty to 15 over so there's no points. The crown will probably offer you that with out even asking. As far as insurance goes, a traffic ticket is a traffic ticket. Three in 3 years will surely raise your rates. They aren't interested in demerit points, unless you get enough to have your licence suspended.

argue everything. make them prove their charge. worst case scenario the JOP will ask you for money no points, and everyone can live with that

If it was truly about safety, radar detectors would be legal, and the police could set up real and decoy traps all over at unsafe areas. Anybody with a detector would slow down for these sections. As long as the police mixed it up enough (switching real and decoy emitters) - then people would not be able to guess if it's real or not.

But of course, it's not about safety.
