When did a big dumper become a thing?

So, in the 80's it was big boobs, 90's were lean and fit, today...it's big asses. And I don't mean Jennifer Lopez shapely, I mean "WTF is that couch doing following you?...oh wait, it's your ass" I get it, everyone is different. I do love a good butt. But...this is something else. I'm genuinely curious when a 'big ass' became a thing? I know Rogan makes a big deal about it. And it's been a thing in rap and hip/hop forever. But when did it become mainstream? And where does the line get drawn? In the context of our shared hobby; 'big ass' has become a hit or miss. Either you get a small waist with a round big in your face or you get what can only be described as a mattress attached to nether regions. What's your take?

Curvy women with big butts were admired in the 30's-40's too.
Agreed, but not like you see today. The 'curvy' women of the 40's and 50's were a reaction to the bone-skinny of the 30's great depression (I have no empirical data on that but if I say it with enough conviction it sounds like I know what I'm talking about). Those models wouldn't even get on stage in comparison to the wide-loads out there now. In fact, most of those ladies would be noticeably average today.

Nor me. I've seen pics of what Kim's lower half looks like without photo-shop. It isn't pretty. That being said, she and her sisters and mother have made millions! So they must be doing something right. But I agree, not for me. Although she is a stunningly attractive woman.

Its all about whats going on with the majority of popular celebrities right now.

They pretty much all have big butts so thats what girls in society feel like they must look like.

Also as others have said ; the kardashians ( specifically kim ) are more to blame for this trend. As much as I love them ; I believe natural beauty is the best beauty.

I'm a whole body guy, hair, face, boobs, and butt. I prefer curves (36-24-36, D+ cupbsize) Anything within a few inches either is my cup of tea. Ideally 120-150lbs
but not like you say, the Kardashian effect, the disportionate look is a complete turn-off. .

Kim brought it to the forefront of beauty standards, but social media is what made it huge.

Since traditional mainstream media never marketed curvy women, most went online and created their own market. This lead to a huge imbalance on social media that would work in their favour because a decade later Social media (Instagram, Twitter etc) becomes the best way to reach an audience.

One of the reasons why Social Media is the better form of media is its algorithm driven coding. So when I type in "Big Booty", the skinnier models are excluded from the algorithm search. This forces regular shaped women to get butt surgery and from there everything starts to compound.

I'm sorry but I don't see this ending anytime soon. There is too much money in this for it to stop.

Any girl that alters her body with ass shots or a BBL is a big turn off. It look so unnatural I actually laugh at some of them because it looks so cartoonish

Started with boob jobs becoming a relatively normal thing to do, it has now grown into face work (nose, lips), butt work and tummy work where the fat is taken from the stomach and re-positioned into the butt. Definitely can attribute this to the Kardashian family. Unfortunately the K women's personality and attitude has also been copied by young women.

I think leggings started the love of butts and love of camel toes
Tight Coulotier, Calvin Klein and Levi jeans back in my day ruled the world for butts... this is not a "new" thing ;--) I would not have graduated junior high school if leggings/Lulu's were around then lol

Also, big dumpster butts do not look good in leggings to my eye... 10lbs of sausage in a 5lb bag.

Agreed, but back then the nice round butts weren't the monstrosities of today...
