Recently I joined a dating site called Plenty Of Fish. So far, most of the ladies have turned out to be flakes. I'd chat with a few, and then for whatever reason, I wouldn't hear back after awhile. A about a week ago, I started chatting with a girl who seemed very interested, so I decided to see if she wanted to chat via telephone. Not more than five minutes after I sent her an e-mail, I received a reply. She said that she would call me that night - that was yesterday. No phone call, and no phone call tonight, either. I'm thinking of giving it one more day, and then asking her what the hell is up. I don't have time for games.

Seriously though, I feel your pain. POF & Lavalife for me have both been wastes of time. In the case of Lava I guess I could claim it was a waste of $$$ as well since I had to buy those stupid credits.
I keep hearing of people who have fabulous luck meeting others through Lavalife and POF. My colleague at work has 2 friends for example who got married to people they met via Lava. But for me, it was a midly interesting but ultimately frustrating experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone.
Dr L, from my experience 90% of the women on dating sites are flakes....they either lie about their age, weight, appearance, all "love to laugh" (like tell me who HATES to laugh???) and when approached for something more than chat, they run like the wind. Funny enough I was just chatting with someone on Lavalife last night and we came up with this analogy: lavalife is like the mall, women go in for a white t shirt and spend all day going in every store, looking at 7500 white t shirts and come out with a pair of shoes. They are all looking for the white knight and Mr Perfect/Right. Well sisters, he doesn't exist yet they still want him.....
Put it this way: if they were really "dating" material and seriously looking for a relationship, would they have to resort to a dating site?
BTW: just a word of caution, from the stories I've heard from women most of the guys are flakes too I mean really, some of the stories I've heard.....

Actually reading TERB re POF put up nice sites on POF (Plentyoffish). No responce. For My US site, I chose not to respond...but, it is free...
Best is research led hobbying.

I have said it before and will say it again, internet dating is a complete waste of time, as you said most of them are flakes, stick with meeting women through work,school,friends,relatives etc,join a volunteer group, take a class, go on a Friday or Saturday night where you know women are hanging out, and in the mean time to make life interesting stick with hobbying.

There is hope on POF boys! A lady friend of mine, very attractive, went out to Vancouver to visit a friend but got chatting with a guy on POF before she went. He met her at the airport and they spent 4 days in a hotel banging away. She never actually got arond to staying with her friend.
Thing is a lot of woman use dating sites as something to do when they are bored at work. They just want the attention but have no interest in following through.
Actually there is a curse put on Toronto and surrounding areas that makes meeting and dating near impossible. Travel outside the cursed zone and you find people open up and are much more approachable and yes it's even possible to exchange phone numbers and date.

Yeah I've met a lot of flakes on Lavalife but I've also met some really great girls too and I have some female friends on Lava so I know there are some decent girls out there.
But let me ask you this...... is this any different than normal dating? I mean I've met my fair share of flakes the old fashioned way too?
Instead of the mall analogy I'd say dating sites are like Value Village..... used goods and most of it is stuff you would never buy but look hard enough and there are some deals to be had.
I'd go so far to say that's dating in general. I mean most people that you meet might be fuckable but how many are datable and of those how many would be compatible for a long term relationship..... by the time you got the list narrowed down to the final criteria listed above the list is probably pretty short...... but hey I'd rather choose carefully than settle for junk.

I find most of the ads are so generic. Like someone wants to meet a guy or gal who dosen't make them laugh, or who beats on them [without a safeword] with a shovel.
The ads are usually so generic that it is impossible to really tell any difference between one person and another. They might as well put age, a picture and what type of sexual organ they are looking for and stop at that.
Then again, most people tend to be pretty generic I guess.
