What's wrong with chat???

When I log on to chat at a Hotel I often stay at I get the same problem when I use their high speed connection, yet the same laptop works fine on my home connection, I suspect its something with the ISP, even tho in both cases the provider is Sympatico.
about a week or more I opened a link from this site....don't ask me by who or what........I don't really know, otherwise I would warn members. Anyway, my virus protector could not isolate it and ended up deleting the exe file it contaminated. I know it is just a matter of reloading my software and 4 hours of my time.....until then, no chat on any board or deletion of cookies, history or opening any PFA files.........the exe file that was deleted from my system was c:\windows\rundll32.exe. You may want to see if you are having the same problem.
I have the same problem but it's only when I use my own laptop. I sneak onto other computers in the office when people aren't around and it seems to work just fine.
