G

GlavaMan

Best: J. Geils Band, Montreal Fourm. May '82
4 encores.

Worst concert experience: Alice Cooper CNE Aug. '80.
Alice went out with Burton Cummings in the afternoon & got so drunk he couldn't perform. There was a major riot!

Worst concert - Tragically Hip at the Molson Amphitheater (had beer poured on me by some a-hole, and Gord Downie sang out of tune, and couldn't/didn't remember the lyrics to most of the songs. I don't know where people get the idea the Hip is a terrific live stage act. Although I like their studio recordings, and one of their live concert recordings, which was pretty good...Gordie must have been told to stick to the lyrics.

Have to agree on this...have seen them 3 times, and every time it sucked....would much rather see my buddies cover them in a bar...

Interesting topic. Here are mine:

First: Toto at Massey Hall (obstructed seats 6 rows back)

Best: this is too hard, but here are two

1. Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with the former theme park as tailgate site....TWICE
2. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at Memorial Auditorium in Buffalo, 4 and a half hours of complete bliss (early 80's or late 70's)

OK three

3. Bachman/Cummings w/Serena Ryder as opening act at Hamilton Place...wow

Worst: I can't remember a worst one....either getting old or have forgotten the worst ones...if we can expand to comedy, George Carlin.... wow was he awful

Heaven, definately Heaven
First: Journey (opening act was Greg Kihn, so Kihn was the first).
Best: I was drugged up to the teeth for The Thompson Twins, 2nd row during "Into the Gap", so maybe the mescaline and the weed made it the best.
Worst: Duran Duran (Big Thing Tour, actually bloody yawned 50% into it).

Moxie Fruvouse - thought I was the only one that saw them

First ever live concert: Moxie Fruvous (bonus points to anyone who remembers them~)

Best Concert: The Red Hot Chili Peppers, saw them in Vancouver about 5 years ago....seriously the best music I've heard live or recorded, they are so damn talented!

Worst: Hoobastank at the opera house in Toronto a couple of years ago. I was convinced to to with a friend, and didn't want to go in the first place. It was just overwhelmingly loud, no distinguishable music, or talent.
Okay - you must have been six when you saw them - I remember seeing a concert of Barenakedladies many years ago at Harbourfront and MF opened for BNL

First: Kiss, sometime in the hazy mid-1970s

Best: tough call. Top of the list in no particular order would be Rush on the Vapor Trails tour, Emerson Lake and Palmer in a 2000 seat venue in Vancouver (I think it was The Orpheum), The Who's Quadrophenia tour (also in Vancouver; Billy Idol was in the show too as part of the Quadrophenia play/opera) come to mind right away.

Worst: Two scraped the bottom of the barrel, REM and Neil Young. Bloody awful.

Dire Straits wasn't bad either. Shame the lighting and sound were a little messed up during the first set. Nice that they attempted to make up for it by extending the second set once everything was fixed-up.

The best for me was Pink Floyd Dark Side tour in the mid 70's...
As a kid in an orphanage, we had great tickets donated for floor seats to all major goings on in Calgary.
At the Floyd concert, a girl was on her b/f's shoulders and was extremely loud and enthusiastic.
This annoyed Roger so he threw his beer at her(which splashed a little onto me and the other kids).
Anyhow, the beer excited the girl even more and so she went wild which caused Roger to leave the stage.
He was so mad at how he felt regarding a fan that he proceed to write The Wall shortly thereafter.
You can google it to verify.
Anyhow, seeing that then and knowing this now, made that concert the best one ever for me.
Kiss in full regalia in mid 70's was awesome too.
Worst concert, Moody Blues, early 80's.....sucked big time.
I can't listen to Knights in White Satin without having a little vomit come into the back of my mouth.

They were so good, I coulda cried.

I've seen a lot of concerts, and NOTHING comes even remotely close. It was religious.

Weird.

I've seen them a dozen times and never heard Gordie sing out of tune or miss a lyric. I always found them tight and aside from Gordie going off on the odd tangent (which I always enjoy) there was little difference from the studio sound.

Keep in mind I'm not arguing with you. I'm sure they have bad nights like any other band. When they were on the Trouble at the Henhouse tour and played at MLG was one of my favourites.
